AUGUSTA — Derek Devereaux and Blake Gordon scored 22 points apiece Saturday as second-seeded Brunswick defeated seventh-seeded Mt. Ararat 73-54 in an Eastern Class A boys’ basketball quarterfinal at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Dragons (14-5) led 49-41 after three quarters, then pulled away in the fourth as Boyd Elliot scored 11 of his 13 points. Brunswick made 14 of 20 free throws in the final eight minutes.

Mt. Ararat’s Shyheim Ulrickson finished with 25 points, including five 3-pointers. Mason Griffin contributed 10 points for the Eagles (7-12). 

OXFORD HILLS 44, BANGOR 41: Andrew Fleming scored 24 points to lead the sixth-seeded Vikings (12-7) over the third-seeded Rams (13-6) in an Eastern Class A quarterfinal.

Bangor led 26-20 at halftime, but the Vikings turned the game around with a 11-2 run in the third quarter. Fleming scored seven of Oxford Hills’ 11 points.

The Vikings protected their lead by making 7 of 8 free throws in the fourth quarter. Luke Davidson was 4 for 4 and finished with 10 points.

Xavier Lewis led Bangor with 20 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter.
