Fifteen semifinalists were announced for the Frank J. Gaziano offensive and defensive linemen awards.

The winners will be announced at a luncheon ceremony Jan. 25 at the Augusta Civic Center.

Among the semifinalists are eight senior offensive linemen and seven senior defensive linemen, chosen from 25 nominees.

The offensive linemen are Bangor’s Brendan Moore, Bonny Eagle’s Isaiah Reynolds, Brunswick’s Joshua Thibeault, Cheverus’ Greg Grinnell, Leavitt’s Matt Powell, Sanford’s Jedidiah Thomas Scott, Skowhegan’s Ethan Liberty and Windham’s Ethan Petty.

The defensive linemen are Cape Elizabeth’s Caelan Houle, Greely’s Dylan Rasch, Mt. Blue’s Colin Richards, Nokomis’ Russell Wilson, Oak Hill’s Luke Washington, Portland’s Jacob Fogel and Scarborough’s Mike Pino.

One offensive and one defensive lineman will receive a $5,000 scholarship and a first-place trophy.

Four runners-up will each receive a $1,000 scholarship.

The winners are chosen based on their strong leadership on the field, in the classroom and in the community.

The scholarship and awards program were created in 2010 in honor of Frank J. Gaziano, the founder of National Distributors in South Portland and a lifelong local sports fan.
