GORHAM — Cassidy Grover’s two free throws with 10 seconds left broke a tie and gave Cheverus a 42-40 win over Gorham Tuesday night in an SMAA girls’ basketball game.

Jess Willerson’s 20 led the Stags (4-4). Abby Hamilton scored 13 for Gorham (5-4).

YARMOUTH 43, WAYNFLETE 41: Sean Cahill scored 12 points as the Clippers (2-5) held off the Flyers (4-3) at Portland.

Seven other players also scored for Yarmouth led by Shannon Fallon with six. Cory Langenbach, Abigail Nielsen and Grace O’Donnell each added five.

Leigh Fernandez had 18 points and Helen Gray-Bauer finished with 13 for the Flyers.

WINDHAM 40, DEERING 22: Haley Batchelder grabbed 10 of Windham’s 44 rebounds as the Eagles (7-2) crashed the boards against Deering (4-5) in Windham.

Windham’s Sadie Nelson’s 15 points topped all scorers.

LAKE REGION 54, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 32: Tiana-Jo Carter scored nine of her 11 points in the first half and the Lakers (7-1) rolled at Fryeburg Academy (2-5).

Jordan Turner added 10 points for Lake Region, which opened with a 13-2 run.

LINCOLN ACADEMY 54, CAMDEN HILLS 49: Brie Wajer had 16 points, seven assists and seven steals to lead the Eagles (6-2) past the Windjammers (3-5) at Newcastle.

Barrett Campbell added 10 points and three steals, and Jennifer Genthner had 10 points for Lincoln Academy, which led 28-20 at halftime.

Charlotte Messer led Camden Hills with 13 points. Rachel Pease had 12 and Madelyn Bowman 11.

BIDDEFORD 60, BONNY EAGLE 51: Carissa Gelinas finished with 24 points, including 12 for 12 from the free-throw line, as the Tigers (2-7) held off a second-half surge from the Scots (2-7) at Biddeford.

Samantha Maxfield paced Bonny Eagle with 19 points and Elizabeth Bushey added 10.

Bailey Cote finished with 13 points and as many rebounds; Kendra Cote added 11 points and nine rebounds.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 48, TRAIP ACADEMY 33: Maria Valente finished with 20 points to lead the Patriots (5-3) past the Rangers (3-3) at Kittery.

Kaylie Andrews paced Traip Academy with 10 points.

GREELY 75, KENNEBUNK 29: Ashley Storey’s 14 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists paced the Rangers (6-2) during their triumph over Kennebunk (0-8) in Cumberland.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 39, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 30: Charlotte Esancy scored 16 points, Hannah Carr had 14 and the Panthers (3-3) used a 12-5 second-quarter run to pull away from the Guardians (2-5) at South Berwick.

Kylene DeSmith scored 19 points for Seacoast Christian, which trailed 22-12 at halftime.

MASSABESIC 43, NOBLE 28: Jolena Lampron had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six steals to pace the Mustangs (1-7) against the Knights (0-8) at Waterboro.

Monica St. Amand knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to 14 points, including 11 in the first quarter when Massabesic took a 16-0 lead.

Kathryn Taylor scored 12 for Noble.

MARSHWOOD 40, SANFORD 36: Kat Locke controlled the paint as the Hawks (2-5) held Sanford (3-5) to one point in the second period to turn a 14-6 deficit into a 17-15 lead in South Berwick.

SOUTH PORTLAND 54, SCARBOROUGH 46: Madeline Hasson scored 13, Lydia Henderson 12 and Brianne Maloney 10 for South Portland (7-2) during a victory over the Red Storm (5-4) in Scarborough.

The Red Riots trailed 29-24 at the half.

MESSALONSKEE 44, MT. ARARAT 35: Sophia Holmes scored 18 points, Mikayla Turner had 11 and Messalonskee (6-2) pulled away from Mt. Ararat (0-8) in the final minutes at Oakland.

Lindsey Cornelison scored 16 points for Mt. Ararat.

CONY 61, BRUNSWICK 53: Emily Quirion scored 30 points and added nine rebounds to lead the Rams (6-4) over the Dragons (6-2) at Augusta.

Quirion hit four 3-pointers in the win. Haley Quirion added 11 points for the Rams and Olivia Deeves chipped in with six points and nine assists.

Brunswick (6-2) was led by Julia Champagne with 18 points and Lyse Henshaw with 15.

WELLS 43, CAPE ELIZABETH 28: Alison Furness scored 12 points, Jordan Agger had 10 and the Warriors (7-1) used free-throw shooting to beat the Capers (5-3) at Wells.

The Warriors were 21 of 26 from the line overall and 11 of 11 in the third quarter, when an 18-7 run put them up 32-22.

PORTLAND 64, WESTBROOK 45: Brianna Holdren scored 17 points to pace the Bulldogs (7-1) over the visiting Blue Blazes (3-6).

Mariana Angelo added 12 points, and Elizabeth Donato and Cierra Burnham had 10 apiece for Portland.

YORK 47, FALMOUTH 37: Chloe Smedley scored 15 points with 10 rebounds as the Wildcats (6-2) handled the Yachtsmen (2-6) at York.

Emma Thomson had 11 points, Erin McCafferty added eight and Shannon Todd closed with seven points and four assists for York.

Jessica Burton had 10 points and Adelaide Cooke had nine for Falmouth, which was held to single digits in the first three quarters before rallying for 19 points in the fourth.

GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 45, HEBRON 37: Clarissa Jones scored 14 points in the fourth quarter as Portland Christian (1-5) went to full-court pressure and outscored Hebron (0-4) 16-6, turning a 31-29 deficit into an eight-point victory in South Portland.

Jones finished with 30. The Lumberjacks’ Olivia Brown countered with 25 points.

CARRABEC 65, BOOTHBAY 38: Emma Pluntke had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead the Cobras to the MVC win in North Anson.

Mickayla Willette added nine points and five steals for Carrabec (6-2) and Macy Welch scored a team-high 21 points.

Boothbay (4-4) was led by Morgan Crocker with a game-high 24 points.

HOCKEY

BIDDEFORD 4, YORK 1: Katherine Dumoulin scored twice while leading the Tigers (6-4) past York (1-7-1) in Biddeford.

Dalani Roy added a goal and an assist for Biddeford; Brea Rivard also scored. Kendall Carr scored for the Wildcats.
