GORHAM — Emily Lewis and Abbie LaPorte scored in the first 13 minutes, Emma Smith made seven saves and eighth-seeded Gorham shut out No. 9 Massabesic 3-0 in a Western Class A girls’ soccer preliminary-round match Friday.

Meghan Cushing added a goal with five seconds left. Morgan Cushing and Lauren Stiles each had an assist for Gorham (11-4), which will face top-ranked Windham in the quarterfinals on Tuesday.

Alyssa Wardwell stopped 24 shots for Massabesic (6-8-1).

MARSHWOOD 4, CHEVERUS 1: Hannah Folger scored three times to lead the fifth-seeded Hawks (11-4) to a 4-0 halftime lead over the 12th-seeded Stags (4-9-2) in a Western Class A preliminary game at South Berwick.

Lydia St. Pierre also scored for Marshwood, and Megan McLean and Savannah Menard each had an assist.

Katie Gordon scored on a breakaway for Cheverus with 10 minutes left.

WAYNFLETE 5, MT. ABRAM 0: Ella Millard had two goals and two assists to lead the No. 5 Flyers (11-2-2) past the No. 12 Roadrunners (5-9-1) in a Western Class C preliminary game at Portland.

Waynflete led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Helen Gray-Bauer. Leigh Fernandez and Beata Vest added second-half goals.

Juliana Harwood stopped three shots for the shutout. Mt. Abram’s Allison Lopez had 16 saves.

OCEANSIDE 4, GARDINER 0: Makenna Brooks scored three goals and assisted on another as the fourth-seeded Mariners (11-3-1) scored four times in the final 38 minutes to pull away from the 13th-seeded Tigers (3-10-2) in an Eastern Class B prelim at Rockland.

Emily Gould opened the scoring for the Mariners 2:05 into the second half on an assist from Makenna Brooks.

Jillian Brooks and Paige Tyler each had an assist for the Mariners.

Kaylyn Grover made two saves to record the shutout. Ally Day and Lauren Chadwick combined for 16 saves for Gardiner.

POLAND 2, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Sarah Bolduc scored on an assist from Lindsey Theriault in the first half, and the eighth-seeded Knights (7-8) held off the ninth-seeded Phoenix (9-6) in a Western Class B prelim at Poland.

The Knights added an insurance goal in the second half when Marissa Zink scored on an assist from Emily Bolduc.

Haley Whitworth finished with seven saves to record the shutout. Spruce Mountain keeper Emily Keene stopped nine shots.

SACOPEE VALLEY 2, CARRABEC 1: Brooke Totman scored an unassisted goal late in the second half to give No. 10 Sacopee Valley a Western Class C win in North Anson.

Courtney Ryan also had an unassisted goal for Sacopee (7-8), which will play at No. 2 Madison on Tuesday. Madison Day made 12 saves.

Brooklynne Lewis scored unassisted for No. 7 Carrabec (9-5-1). Macy Welch finished with 12 saves.

LEAVITT 2, LINCOLN ACADEMY 1: Shannon O’Malley set up goals by McKenzie Varney and Tatianna Sierra, and the seventh-seeded Hornets (6-7-2) held off the No. 10 Eagles (6-6-3) in a Western Class B prelim at Turner.

Angela Daigle made 16 saves for Leavitt, which withstood a seven-shot flurry in the final three minutes.

O’Malley assisted Varney on a first-half goal off a corner kick, and Sierra knocked in O’Malley’s rebound at 6:25 of the second.

Chloe Hallowell scored unassisted for Lincoln with 18:25 remaining.

MT. BLUE 6, LAWRENCE 0: Eryn Doiron had four goals and an assist, while Miranda Nicely had one goal, one assist and one save and the eighth-seeded Cougars beat the No. 9 Bulldogs in an Eastern Class A prelim in Farmington.

Lauren Guppy also scored goal, and Hope Thompson, Kiana Thompson and Savannah Swain each had an assist for Mt. Blue (6-6-3), which advances to play Bangor in the quarterfinals. Thia Bridges had nine saves, while Addie Schanz and Nicely each had one.

Paige Belanger had 11 saves for Lawrence (4-10-1).

MARANACOOK 2, TRAIP ACADEMY 1: Sixth-seeded Maranacook went 4 for 4 in penalty kicks to earn a 2-1 win over No. 11 Traip Academy in a Western Class C prelim at Readfield.

Sarah Clough, Lillie McLaughlin, Jenna Elwell and Lindsey Perkins all made their penalty kicks for Maranacook (6-5-4), which advances to play No. 3 Hall-Dale on Tuesday.

Alli Barrett, Elora McCuddy and Emily Hartley made their penalty kicks for Traip (5-10). Maranacook keeper Liz D’Angelo made one save, and the Rangers missed one penalty kick.

Traip took a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into the game when Emily Hartley scored. Clough scored with 5:30 left in the half.

WINSLOW 2, ERSKINE ACADEMY 1: Calli Lavarnway scored from 18 yards with four minutes left in regulation as the seventh-seeded Black Raiders (9-5-1) won an Eastern Class B prelim in Winslow.

Lavarnway opened the scoring about nine minutes into the game. It stayed that way until six minutes into the second half, when Taylor Boucher scored to pull No. 10 Erskine (7-7-1) even.

Winslow will next play at No. 2 Hermon in a quarterfinal Tuesday.
