WINDHAM — Brianna Holdren scored 21 points Tuesday night and Portland used a second-quarter run to pull away for a 58-52 girls’ basketball victory over Windham.

Holdren had two 3-pointers in the rally that put the Bulldogs (12-3) ahead 30-24 at the half after trailing 17-10 to start the second quarter.

Gabrielle Wagabaza had 12 points and Mariana Angelo had 11 for Portland.

Sadie Nelson had 28 points, Haley Batchelder finished with 10 points, and Lonnie Staten had six points and 11 rebounds for Windham (10-5).

 

THORNTON ACADEMY 43, WESTBROOK 36: Ashley Howe had 13 points and made some tough free throws down the stretch to lead the Golden Trojans (12-2) over the visiting Blue Blazes (4-10). Abby Strickland aided in the strong team effort with seven points and seven rebounds. Westbrook’s Alisha Aube led all scorers with 17.

GREELY 44, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 39: Blais Tardiff led all scorers with 14 points, and also had 10 rebounds and two steals to lead the Rangers (12-3) over the Raiders (8-7) at Cumberland.

Fryeburg was paced by Skye Dole with 11 points.

 

POLAND 54, CAPE ELIZABETH 47: Emily Bolduc scored a game-high 20 points for the Knights (9-6) as they pulled away from the Capers (8-7) in the fourth quarter at Poland.

Sarah Bolduc added 10 points for Poland, which outscored Cape Elizabeth 17-10 in the fourth quarter to break open a tie game.

Hannah Sawyer paced the Capers with 15 points.

 

SKOWHEGAN 47, BRUNSWICK 42: Taylor Johnson scored 16 points and Alanna Atkinson added 13 to lead the host Indians (9-6) to the KVAC A victory.

Julia Champagne scored a game-high 17 points to pace Brunswick (9-6).

 

MEDOMAK VALLEY 53, LEAVITT 44: Hannah Marks scored 18 points and Maggie Cox chipped in 15 as the Panthers (10-6) handled the Hornets (6-9) at Turner.

Meagan Dow had 11 for Leavitt.

 

CHEVERUS 50, SCARBOROUGH 41: Jess Willerson scored 18 points to lead the Stags (10-4) against the Red Storm (6-9) at Scarborough.

Georgia Ford and Lodia Ismail each added nine for Cheverus, which outscored Scarborough 20-14 in the fourth quarter.

Bailey Adams and Ashley Briggs each had 13 points for Scarborough.

FALMOUTH 39, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 30: Liina Paavonpera had 10 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Yachtsmen (5-9) over the Patriots (8-6) at Falmouth,

Ally Hickey’s 12 points led the Yachtsmen, who came back after scoring two points in the first quarter.

 

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 56, TRAIP ACADEMY 42: Abigail Dubois scored 31 points and pulled down 19 rebounds to lift the Seagulls (10-5) over the Rangers (4-11) at Old Orchard Beach.

Old Orchard pulled away in the fourth quarter, closing out the game with a 24-14 run behind six points from Mackenzie Rague, who finished with eight points and five steals.

Traip was led by Allie Barrett with 14 points.

WELLS 64, KENNEBUNK 31: Alison Furness scored 12 points and Sophie Lamb had 11 to lead the Warriors (13-2) over the Rams (1-14) at Wells. Gabby Fogg led the Rams with 10 points.

 

CONY 40, MT. ARARAT 36: Emily Quirion scored 12 of her 22 points in the second quarter as the Rams (11-5) defeated the Eagles (3-13) at Topsham.

 

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 45, HYDE 42: Charlotte Esancy scored 19 points, including eight in the fourth quarter for the Panthers (6-7) against the Phoenix (1-13) at Yarmouth.

Esancy also had 11 rebounds and six steals.

Diamond Brown had 18 points for Hyde.

 

MARSHWOOD 57, MASSABESIC 18: The Hawks (7-7) held the Mustangs (1-14) to four points in the first half to secure a win at South Berwick.

 

MCAULEY 78, BONNY EAGLE 28: Olivia Smith scored 20 points to pace the Lions (14-1) past the Scots (4-11) in Standish. Jaclyn Welch, Allie Clement, and Victoria Lux each contributed 13. Elizabeth Bushey lead Bonny Eagle with six.

WAYNFLETE 60, KENTS HILL 45: Leigh Fernandez scored 17 points to lead the Flyers (8-6) over the Huskies (6-4) at Kents Hill.

Fernandez made four 3-pointers, including a 60-foot shot at the halftime buzzer that extended Waynflete’s lead to 31-17.

Juliana Harwood added 11 points for the Flyers.

Emma Curnin paced Kents Hill with a game-high 20 points.

SANFORD 42, NOBLE 26: Hannah Howes scored six of her eight points in the first quarter as the Spartans (7-8) raced to a 15-5 first-quarter lead in a win over the Knights (0-15) at North Berwick.

The lone player in double figures for Sanford was Shelby Paiement (13).

Amber Kelly led Noble with 13.

 

YORK 50, YARMOUTH 30: Shannon Todd scored 13 points to lead the Wildcats (11-4) over the Clippers (4-11) at York.

The Wildcats scored 23 points in the second quarter to take a 35-15 advantage into halftime. Todd scored seven in the second.

Paige McElwain finished with 10 points for York. Shannon Fallon paced the Clippers with 12 points.

 

DEERING 55, BIDDEFORD 35: Katasia Titherington scored 13 points in the first quarter to get the Rams (7-8) rolling for a win over the visiting Tigers (2-12). Titherington finished with a game-high 21 points.

HOCKEY

BIDDEFORD 3, CHEVERUS 2: Brea Rivard scored the go-ahead goal midway through the third period to lift the Tigers (7-5) over the Stags (6-10) in a back-and-forth game at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Cheverus took the lead 1:54 into the game on a goal by Jill Hannigan. The Tigers tied the game nine minutes later when Taylor Turgeon scored on an assist from Rivard.

Katherine Dumoulin gave the Tigers the lead with 4:21 left in the second period and Katherine Randall scored the equalizer for the Stags three minutes later.

Cheverus goalie Taylor Courtois made 31 saves and Cassie Ellis had 18 saves for Biddeford.
