WINDHAM — Sadie Nelson had 24 points and 12 rebounds, and Windham escaped with a 40-39 victory over Gorham in an SMAA girls’ basketball game Friday night.

Nelson hit a tying shot in overtime, and Haley Batchelder put Windham (4-1) ahead with a minute left.

Emily Esposito scored 18 points for Gorham (2-3) and Abby Hamilton had 13, including a tying layup with 20 seconds left in regulation.

CHEVERUS 65, DEERING 42: Jess Willerson finished with 20 points to pace the Stags (4-1) over the Rams (2-3) at Deering.

Jillian Libby added 14 points and Georgia Ford scored 11 for Cheverus, which raced out to a 43-20 halftime lead.

Courtney Brett and Katasia Titherington led Deering with 11 points apiece.

SCARBOROUGH 58, MASSABESIC 42: Ashley Briggs scored 11 of her 17 points in the first half as the host Red Storm (4-1) raced to a 36-12 lead over the Mustangs (0-5).

Jamie Sargent added 10 points for Scarborough. Bailey Adams, Brooke Malone and Regan Mars each had eight.

Monica St. Armand led Massabesic with 21 points.

MCAULEY 72, NOBLE 18: Jaclyn Welch made four 3-pointers and finished with 18 points as the Lions (5-0) cruised to a win over the Knights (0-5) at North Berwick.

Allie Clement and Victoria Lux added 12 points apiece.

MARSHWOOD 45, BIDDEFORD 42: Lydia St. Pierre scored seven of her 12 points in the first quarter as the Hawks (1-4) grabbed a 19-4 lead and held on at Biddeford (1-4).

The Tigers cut into the lead in the second half, but fourth-quarter 3-pointers from Macy Morrison and Megan McLean helped Marshwood put it away.

Carissa Gelinas scored 17 points and Bailey Cote had 10 for Biddeford.

THORNTON ACADEMY 27, SANFORD 25: Olivia Shaw made some key baskets in the second half and finished with 13 points as the Golden Trojans (4-1) edged the Spartans (2-3) at Sanford.

Kate McCrum went 2 for 4 at the foul line down the stretch to give the Trojans their margin of victory.

Abigail Strickland added seven points and six rebounds for the Trojans.

Sanford was led by Morgan Fogg with 12 points.

WESTBROOK 44, BONNY EAGLE 38: Alisha Aube scored 15 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, to lead the Blue Blazes (2-3) over the Scots (1-4) at Standish.

Westbrook took control in the third quarter, outscoring Bonny Eagle 13-6 to extend its lead to 38-28.

Rebecca Howell and Samantha Maxfield scored nine points apiece to pace Bonny Eagle.

TRAIP ACADEMY 38, WAYNFLETE 35: Alli Barrett scored nine points as the Rangers (3-2) edged the Flyers (4-1) at Portland.

Haley Turnbull had eight points and Kaylie Andrews scored seven for Traip.

Helen Gray-Bauer led the Flyers with 13 points, followed by Leigh Fernandez with seven and Juliana Harwood with six. Harwood also had 14 rebounds.

PINE TREE ACADEMY 53, NORTH HAVEN 24: Alex Goodman had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Kim Emerson added 18 points and 15 rebounds as the Breakers (4-1) downed the Hawks (0-6) at Freeport.

Gina MacDonald scored 12 points for North Haven.
