SWAMPSCOTT, Mass. — Boston Red Sox great Johnny Pesky is being laid to rest in Swampscott.
A private funeral service for Pesky is scheduled for Monday in the North Shore town he has called home for decades.
He will be buried next to his wife, Ruth, who died in 2005.
Pesky died last week at age 92.
Hundreds of people, many wearing Red Sox jerseys, turned out for a public wake in Lynn on Sunday. Among the mourners were former Red Sox players.
Many remembered Pesky for his generosity, his friendliness and his dedication to the team.
