LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — The Los Angeles Angels traded slugging outfielder-first baseman Mark Trumbo to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday as part of a three-team deal that also included the Chicago White Sox.

Pitcher Hector Santiago moved from the White Sox to the Angels, outfielder Adam Eaton from the Diamondbacks to Chicago, and left-hander Tyler Skaggs from Arizona to Los Angeles.

Arizona also will receive a player to be named or cash from each of the other clubs in the deal made at the winter meetings.

Trumbo hit .234 with 34 homers and 100 RBI this year, getting much of his playing time at first base because Albert Pujols was hurt. But he was deemed superfluous by Los Angeles, which needs starting pitching behind Jered Weaver, C.J. Wilson and Garrett Richards.

Santiago was 4-9 with a 3.56 ERA in 23 starts and 11 relief appearances. His fastball velocity has dipped from 93.8 mph in 2011 to 92.8 in 2012 to 91.8 last season, according to fangraphs.com.

Eaton hit .252 with three homers, 22 RBI and 44 strikeouts in 250 at-bats for the Diamondbacks last season, when he also played with three minor league teams.

Skaggs went to Santa Monica High School, was taken by the Angels with the 40th overall selection of the 2009 amateur draft and was dealt to the Diamondbacks in August 2010 to complete the trade that brought Dan Haren to Los Angeles.

Skaggs made his big league debut in 2012, when he had six starts, but spent much of this year in the minors. He was 2-3 with a 5.12 ERA in seven starts for Arizona, leaving him with a 3-6 career mark.

All four players have low salaries for now. Trumbo and Santiago are on track to be eligible for salary arbitration after next season, Eaton following the 2015 season and Skaggs after the 2016 season.

ANDERSON TRADE: Oakland found a trade partner for pitcher Brett Anderson and his big salary on Tuesday.

The Athletics dealt the left-hander and cash to the Colorado Rockies for lefty Drew Pomeranz and minor league right-hander Chris Jensen.

Two-time AL West champion Oakland had been looking to move Anderson, who is due to make $8 million this season and has a $12 million contract option for the 2015 season. That includes a $1.5 million buyout.

The 25-year-old Anderson was the Athletics’ starter on opening day this year. He went 1-4 with a 6.04 in five starts and 16 appearances, finishing up as a reliever in an injury-interrupted season.

TIGERS: A person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press that outfielder Rajai Davis and the Tigers are closing in on an agreement for a two-year contract worth $9 million to $10 million.

The person spoke anonymously because an agreement has not been completed and the player is to have a physical.

The 33-year-old Davis spent the last three seasons with Toronto and hit .260 this year with six homers and 24 RBI and 45 steals in 331 at-bats. He made $2.5 million.

RANGERS: Texas finalized a $1.8 million, one-year contract with catcher J.P. Arencibia.

Arencibia hit .194 with 21 homers, 18 doubles and 55 RBI in a career-high 138 games this year for Toronto. The Blue Jays didn’t offer him a contract by the Dec. 2 deadline and allowed him to become a free agent.

Arencibia is fourth among catchers in home runs over the past three seasons with 62.

ORIOLES: Baltimore signed free agent right-hander Ryan Webb to a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old Webb was 2-6 with a 2.91 ERA for Miami in 2013 and reached career highs with 66 games, 801/3 innings and 54 strikeouts.

SPINK AWARD: The New Yorker’s Roger Angell won the J.G. Taylor Spink Award for meritorious contributions to baseball writing, the first writer to earn the honor who was never a member of the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.

“I’m very, very happy,” Angell said during a telephone conference call. “I’m stunned. Very touched. Very grateful.”

The 93-year-old will be honored during the Hall of Fame’s induction weekend July 25-28 in Cooperstown, N.Y. He will attend the ceremony, joined by retired managers Joe Torre, Bobby Cox and Tony La Russa, who were elected Monday by the expansion era committee.
