Nicole Clegg, the city’s spokeswoman, said the new clubhouse will feature a pro shop, public restrooms and a function room.

Clegg said the ribbon cutting, which will be attended by Mayor Michael Brennan, will begin at 10 a.m.

To mark the event, Clegg said golfers will be able to play nine holes at a reduced rate. The public is invited, and refreshments will be served.

The construction of a new clubhouse represents the latest effort by the city to improve the public's golfing experience at Riverside.

Clegg said the city hired Nick Packard, a PGA professional, in May to oversee operations at the course.

The course will feature a new app for smartphones that will allow the public to book tee times online, map their course, track scores, and even order a snack off the menu from Through The Woods – the golf course restaurant.

The city-owned Riverside Golf Course opened in 1932, and was expanded to 18 holes in 1937. Today, Riverside features a nine-hole South Course and an 18-hole North Course.
