AUGUSTA — Old Orchard Beach could not recover from a scoreless first quarter and dropped a 51-43 decision to Madison in the West Class C girls basketball quarterfinals Wednesday morning at the Augusta Civic Center.
The fifth-seeded Bulldogs (14-6) advanced to the semifinals, while the No. 4 Seagulls are done at 14-6.
Old Orchard Beach missed 13 shots in the first quarter and trailed 8-0. The Seagulls fell behind 24-11 at halftime.
The Seagulls closed to within five twice in the second half, but Madison held on. Abigail Dubois paced Old Orchard Beach with 15 points.
