Cape Elizabeth residents needed only nine minutes Thursday morning to fill 600 available slots for the 2013 TD Beach to Beacon 10K Road Race.
Registration for 4,000 bibs available to the general public will begin Friday at 7 a.m. Last year, they lasted only five minutes.
A lottery drawing on March 25 will allocate an additional 1,900 entries. The race charges $5 to enter the lottery.
Entry fee for the race, scheduled for Aug. 3, is $45. Runners unsuccessful in their attempts at online registration can enter the lottery in groups of up to six people (as for a family). In this way, if one gets in they all get in.
