Pats TE Hernandez leaves game with ankle injury

The Associated Press

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez's return to Sunday's game is questionable after he suffered an ankle injury.

Hernandez was hurt with 6:38 left in the first quarter against the Arizona Cardinals while trying to block for Julian Edelman, who had just caught a 6-yard pass from Tom Brady. Hernandez stayed on the ground for several minutes and appeared to be favoring his right leg as he was helped to the sideline.

Hernandez had six catches in the Patriots season-opening 34-13 win over the Tennessee Titans but none on Sunday. He is part of the NFL's best tight end tandem with Rob Gronkowski.
