GORHAM — Dylan Fried and Tommy Thompson each had a goal and an assist Saturday night to help Greely surprise Gorham with a 2-1 victory in a schoolboy hockey game at the University of Southern Maine.

Pete Hurley also assisted on Fried’s power-play goal that gave the Rangers (4-5-2) a 1-0 lead 11 minutes into the game. Thompson made it 2-0 six minutes into the second period before Dylan Turner scored for Gorham (7-3) on a power play with three minutes left in the second.

MT. ARARAT/LISBON 4, BONNY EAGLE 2: Jeremy Williams, Mark Abreau and Shane Pennell each had a goal and an assist to lead Mt. Ararat/Lisbon (7-6) over Bonny Eagle (1-10-1) at Gorham.

Ben Bishop also scored for Mt. Ararat/Lisbon. Justin Miles scored twice for the Scots.

BANGOR 5, CHEVERUS 3: Jake Fournier scored twice in the first period, and set up Owen Trundy two minutes into the second to open a 3-0 lead for Bangor (7-1) against the Stags (6-3-1) at Portland.

James Hannigan and Keegan Thomas sandwiched a pair of Cheverus goals around one by Sam Kenney of the Rams to narrow the margin to 4-2 entering the final period.

Nick Graham extended the lead to three goals 46 seconds into the third period before James Kane’s power-play goal at 2:38 completed the scoring.

KENNEBUNK 14, MASSABESIC/OLD ORCHARD BEACH 1: Bryce Fraser scored four goals to lead the Rams (7-3-1) past the Sea Stangs (0-10) at Biddeford.

Ryan and Brendan Keefe each added a pair of goals, and Bo Beveridge and Miles Eaton had three assists apiece.

SCARBOROUGH 3, ST. DOMINIC 2: Sam Dedian scored with 1:39 remaining to lift the Red Storm (8-2-1) over the Saints (6-4-1) at Auburn.

Matt Henderson gave Scarborough a 2-1 lead with a pair of second-period goals, scoring on a power play at 5:25, then striking at even strength 11 seconds later. Isaac Lapointe tied it for St. Dominic with 2:09 left in the period.

Dedian also had two assists and Ben Bragg made 21 saves for the Red Storm.

NOBLE/WELLS 7, SOUTH PORTLAND 0: Dean Pratt had two goals and an assist to lead a balanced offense for the Knights (9-2) against the Red Riots (5-5) at Rochester, N.H.

Connor Pease, Noah Pease, Ryan Marsh and Kadin Lessard each had a goal and an assist. Chullainn Kelly also scored.

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, GARDINER 1: Dennis Frank had a goal and an assist to lead the Capers (3-8-1) over the Tigers (1-9) at Hallowell.

Cole Caswell, Curtis Guimond and Eli Breed also scored for Cape Elizabeth, which used two goals in the final 1:06 of the second period to break a 1-1 tie.

YARMOUTH 5, LEAVITT 0: Isaak Dearden scored twice and Walter Conrad collected three assists as the Clippers (6-3-1) downed the Hornets (4-7) at Yarmouth.

Nick Allen made seven saves to earn his first career shutout for Yarmouth, and Dylan Tureff and Christopher Romano each scored their first career goals.

BASKETBALL

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 57, FREEPORT 52: Andreas Kariotis had 15 points and 16 rebounds, leading the Patriots (3-11) over Freeport (1-13) at Gray.

Brendon Qualls of Freeport made six 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 26 points.

CHEVERUS 62, BIDDEFORD 31: Zordan Holman scored 14 points and Noah Stebbins added 12 to lead the Stags (7-7) over the Tigers (0-15) at Biddeford.

Cheverus led 21-20 at halftime, then outscored Biddeford 25-6 in the third quarter.

TRAIP ACADEMY 62, SACOPEE VALLEY 41: Daniel Tokarz scored 12 points and Chris Bailey added 11 to help the Rangers (3-11) pull away from the Hawks (4-9) at South Hiram.

Traip extended a 22-21 halftime lead to 39-28 through three quarters, then continued to pull away.

FALMOUTH 53, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 44: Jack Simonds had 19 points and 11 rebounds for the Yachtsmen (13-1), who pulled away from the Raiders (7-7) in the fourth quarter at Falmouth.

Nick Burton and Tom Coyne added 11 points apiece, and Burton also had 10 rebounds for Falmouth, which needed a 17-10 run in the fourth quarter to pull away after leading just 36-34 through three.

GREELY 51, CAPE ELIZABETH 47: Conner Hanley scored 16 points and Bailey Train added 14, including four 3-pointers, to lift the Rangers (13-1) over the Capers (10-4) at Cape Elizabeth.

Kyle Wood added 10 points for Greely, which led 37-32 through three quarters and held on.

NORTH HAVEN 41, SEACOAST CHRISTIAN 40: Ethan Mao scored a game-high 20 points for the Hawks (13-1), who built a 10-point third-quarter lead and held off the Guardians (7-6) at South Berwick.

Trailing by three, Seacoast made a 2-pointer and stole the inbounds pass in the final seconds, but missed a winning shot.

HYDE 62, ISLESBORO 25: Akim Sanni had 10 points, 10 rebounds and 11 blocked shots as the Phoenix (11-1) beat Islesboro (1-13) at Bath.

YORK 58, POLAND 52: Zach Gauthier’s fourth-quarter jumper in the lane broke a 40-40 tie and the Wildcats (8-6) slowly pulled away from Poland (6-8) at York.

The Knights, behind Derek Michaud’s four third-period 3-pointers, had a 34-32 lead entering the final period, but Michael Gallagher and Ross Hogan each scored seven points as York outscored Poland 26-18 in the fourth.
