Jess Willerson scored seven points in the fourth quarter Saturday, helping Cheverus rally for a 48-41 victory against Marshwood in an SMAA schoolgirl basketball game at Keegan Gym.

Cheverus (9-4) trailed 33-31 through three quarters before taking control, helped by the foul line. The Stags shot 10 of 14 from the line in the final period and took 31 free throws for the game. Cheverus outscored Marshwood (6-7) from the line, 21-4.

Willerson finished 24 points. Macy Morrison scored 17 for the Hawks.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 53, WAYNFLETE 46: Mackenzie Rague’s 3-pointer from the left wing broke a 46-46 tie with just over a minute to play, and Abby Dubois added a pair of free throws in the final seconds as Old Orchard Beach (9-5) slipped past the Flyers (7-6) at Portland.

Dubois finished with 17 points and Lauralee Small 11 for the Seagulls. Leigh Fernandez scored 15 points, Juliana Harwood 13 and Helen Gray-Bauer 10 for Waynflete.

FREEPORT 54, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 46: Nina Davenport scored 20 points for the Falcons (5-8), who took an early lead and held off the Patriots (8-6) at Freeport.

Ashley Richardson added 10 points, had several key steals and also made a pair of late foul shots for the Falcons.

Freeport used a 19-9 run in the second period, helped by a pair of 3-pointers by Livvy Dimick, to build a 30-18 halftime lead.

Maria Valente of Gray-New Gloucester made four 3-pointers and finished with 27 points.

TRAIP ACADEMY 27, SACOPEE VALLEY 17: Alli Barrett scored six of her 12 points in the fourth quarter, helping the Rangers (4-9) use a 12-5 run to pull away from the Hawks (8-6) at Kittery.

YORK 63, POLAND 55: Mia Briggs scored 17 points and the Wildcats (10-4) rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit to beat the Knights (8-6) at Poland.

Paige McElwain added 15 points, Shannon Todd had 13 and Chloe Smedley finished with 12 for York, which outscored Poland 19-9 in the third quarter for a 41-39 lead.

Emily Bolduc had 23 points and Sarah Bolduc 18 for the Knights.

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 44, FALMOUTH 34: Julia Quinn scored 12 points, and Skye Dole added 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raiders (8-6) over Falmouth (4-10) at Fryeburg.

Quinn made a pair of 3-pointers in the first quarter as Fryeburg opened with an 11-6 run, then extended its lead to 24-12 at halftime.

It was the sixth win in the past seven games for Fryeburg.

Emma Powers led Falmouth with nine points.

FOREST HILLS 53, ACADIA CHRISTIAN 16: Kori Coro and Jocelyn Hoyt each scored 14 points as the Tigers (16-0) beat Acadia Christian (0-16) at Jackman.

Jocelyn Davis had 16 points for Acadia Christian.

GREELY 44, CAPE ELIZABETH 40: Moira Train and Haley Felkel each sank a 3-pointer in the fourth period as the Rangers (11-3) went to a four-guard man-to-man defense and outscored Cape Elizabeth (8-6) 10-1 at Cumberland.

Ashley Storey scored 16 and Blais Tardiff 10 for Greely. Montana Braxton scored 19 and Hannah Sawyer 11 for the Capers.

HOCKEY

GREELY 6, MT. ARARAT 0: Danita Storey scored three goals and Sarah Kurland had two as the Rangers (10-4) rolled past the Eagles (3-12) at Falmouth.

Emilee McGillicuddy added a goal, and Ellie Schad and Sarah Johnson each had two assists for Greely. Maura Perry stopped eight shots for the shutout.

Marilyn Daniel made 32 saves for Mt. Ararat.

YARMOUTH/FREEPORT 3, WINSLOW 0: Lilly Watson’s low shot from the point slipped through a screen to give the Clippers (12-3) a 1-0 lead after 12 minutes against Winslow (2-12) at Yarmouth.

Ariel Potter and Katherine Clemmer added goals 10 seconds apart in the second period.

CAPE ELIZABETH/WAYNFLETE 9, GORHAM/BONNY EAGLE 2: Kathryn Clark had three goals and an assist to lead the Capers (9-7) over Gorham/Bonny Eagle (5-10) at Portland.

Allison Mills, Julia Ginder and Gretchen Stevens added two goals each for Cape Elizabeth/Waynflete. Charlotte Smith and Meghan Cushing scored for the Rams.
