The Portland Sea Dogs out-hit the New Britain Rock Cats 10-9, but the home team could not come up with the clutch hit. New Britain beat the Sea Dogs 4-3 at Hadlock Field this afternoon.

The Sea Dogs left nine runners on base. Will Vazquez led Portland with three hits. Nate Spears drove in two runs.

Portland starter Alex Wilson did not factor into the decision. He pitched 5-2/3 innings, allowing three runs on eight hits. He struck out three.

With Portland down 3-2, Spears tied the game with an RBI-double in the seventh inning. But Sea Dogs reliever Ryne Lawson (5-3) allowed the winning run in the eighth on a walk and Chris Parmelee's double.

Portland dropped to 44-46. New Britain, the worst team in the Eastern League, is now 26-65.

The Sea Dogs take the next two days off for the All-Star break. Then they go on the road and do not return to Hadlock until July 22.
