ORONO — The frustration continues for the University of Maine hockey team, courtesy of rival New Hampshire. The Wildcats shut out Maine 4-0 Sunday afternoon at Alfond Arena to drop the Black Bears to 0-4 in Hockey East, their worst start since the league began in 1984.

Maine is 1-8 overall and hasn’t enjoyed a lead at home since the season opener, a 2-1 loss to Quinnipiac a month ago.

Austin Block scored twice for New Hampshire (5-1-1, 3-1-1), once on a power play and once only seconds after a power play ended.

After a solid performance against No. 1-ranked Boston College Friday night, a 4-2 loss that was tied entering the third period, the Black Bears faltered Sunday afternoon against No. 9 New Hampshire, drawing four penalties in the opening period and falling behind in the game’s fourth minute.

Maine returns to action next weekend at UMass-Lowell.
