UMaine picked to finish 5th by Hockey East coaches

BOSTON — The University of Maine men's ice hockey team has been selected to finish fifth in the 2012-2013 Hockey East preseason coaches poll released on Tuesday at Hockey East Media Day in Boston.

Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams. Boston College, the defending national champion, received nine first-place votes and 90 points overall. UMass Lowell (74) was second, followed by Boston University (73) and New Hampshire (63). UNH received the remaining first-place vote.

Maine (56) was fifth followed by Northeastern (44), Providence (44), Merrimack (38), Massachusetts (35). Vermont (23) rounded out the poll in 10th place.
