GRAY - Josh Greenleaf scored three rushing touchdowns and Aaron Chapman had two interceptions Friday night to lead Gray-New Gloucester to a 22-14 victory against Falmouth in a Western Class B football opener.
Friday was the opening night for high school football throughout the state.
After Falmouth scored in the first quarter, Gray-New Gloucester scored 16 points in the second for a 16-7 halftime lead, then made it 22-7 through three periods.
Falmouth scored the only touchdown of the fourth.
BONNY EAGLE 42, BIDDEFORD 14: Tyson Goodale had three touchdowns rushing and three passing to lead the Scots at Standish.
Goodale ran for 131 yards on 15 carries and was 13 of 23 for 283 yards through the air. Joe Bissonnette caught five passes for 132 yards and two touchdowns and Shawn Duane had five catches for 56 yards.
Biddeford quarterback Nick Leblond was 17 of 42 for 321 yards and a touchdown. He also ran for a score.
NOBLE 30, GORHAM 0: Noble had an overpowering run game and came up with some big defensive plays to breeze at North Berwick.
The Knights finished with three interceptions and added a strip sack for a touchdown.
SCARBOROUGH 22, KENNEBUNK 0: Dillon Russo threw for 88 yards, and rushed for 95 yards and two first-half touchdowns to help Scarborough at Kennebunk.
Kenny Adams added 101 yards on 12 carries. Charlie Raybine ran for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Raybine and fellow linebacker Nik Pelletier each had 12 tackles, and Ben Greenberg added an interception.
GREELY 33, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 7: Greely came up with two big defensive plays at Jay.
Svenn Jacobson recovered a fumble and ran it 20 yards for the go-ahead touchdown, and Alex Moore added a 35-yard touchdown run after recovering a fumble near the end of the first half to finish the Rangers' scoring.
The Rangers had taken a 7-0 lead in the first quarter after Nick Maynard recovered a blocked punt in the end zone. Spruce Mountain came back to tie in the first quarter, but Greely responded with 26 second-quarter points.
Greely's offense provided two scores, 1-yard run by quarterback Drew Hodge and an 11-yard pass from Hodge to Maynard.
MT. BLUE 55, BREWER 22: Jordan Whitney threw for three touchdowns and more than 300 yards to lead the Cougars at Brewer.
Mt. Blue led 28-14 at the half before putting the game away with three unanswered touchdowns in the third quarter.
Whitney threw a 37-yard touchdown to Nick Hyde and Bradley Jackson rushed for another score -- his second of the game -- in the quarter.
Calan Lucas rushed for a 67-yard touchdown as well.
"We had a good, strong third quarter that kind of put it away," Mt. Blue Coach Gary Parlin said. "We know our offense is strong."
Whitney threw two touchdown passes to Hyde and another to Cam Abbott.
STEARNS 52, MT. VIEW 20: Riley Whitney, Bart Lyons and Jordan Morrow each rushed for a pair of touchdowns to lead Stearns in a Little Ten Conference game in Millinocket.
Stearns led 28-0 in the third quarter before Mt. View (0-1) got on the scoreboard on a Will Nunn 5-yard touchdown run.
Nunn would add touchdown runs of 53 and 6 yards to lead the Mustangs.
He rushed for more than 160 yards.
WINSLOW 27, POLAND 26: Zach Guptil rushed for a 1-yard touchdown midway through the fourth quarter to snap a 20-20 tie and the Winslow defense came up big in the final minutes at Poland.
