NAPLES – Taylor Simpson scored off a well-placed aerial ball 35 seconds into Monday’s field hockey game as York topped Lake Region, 1-0.

Lily Golini stopped a pair of shots for York (2-0) and Meghan Vanloan made four saves for Lake Region (1-1).

FRYEBURG ACADEMY 4, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: McKenzie Hill scored two of her three goals in the first half as the Raiders (1-1) raced to a 3-0 halftime lead and held off the Patriots (0-2) at Fryeburg.

Emily Davidson also scored for Fryeburg.

Gray-NG keeper Adrianna Kimball made 14 saves.

GREELY 5, POLAND 0: Anna Fitch paced the Rangers (2-0) with four goals as they cruised past the Knights (0-2) at Cumberland.

Cassie Demick also scored a goal for the Rangers and Sabrina Thompson made 10 saves for the shutout.

Poland keeper Liz Callahan finished with 10 saves.

YARMOUTH 6, WAYNFLETE 0: Kallie Hutchinson and Lily Daggett scored two goals apiece to lead the Clippers past the Flyers in a season opener at Portland.

Katie Overhaug and Taylor Robison added one goal apiece for Yarmouth.

Waynflete keeper Kiera MacWhinnie finished with 24 saves.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 5, TRAIP ACADEMY 0: Marina Poole finished with three goals as the Panthers (1-0) pulled away from the Rangers (1-1) in the second half at Yarmouth.

Olivia Madore added two goals and one assist for the Panthers and Elizabeth Coughlin made seven saves for the shutout.

BIDDEFORD 3, DEERING 1: Charlotte White scored two goals and Katelyn Perkins added another to lead the Tigers (2-0) past the Rams (0-3) at Portland.

Kaytlin DiBiase scored for Deering early in the first half on an assist from Kerry Wells.

Mackenzie Hevey finished with seven saves for the Tigers and her counterpart, Sadie Rhinehardt, had six.

LEWISTON 3, BRUNSWICK 0: Abigail Loisel, Kasey Talarico and Desirae Roy scored for the Blue Devils (1-2) in a win over the Dragons (1-2) at Brunswick.

Morgan Gaudissart led Traip with two goals and Alli Barrett collected one goal and one assist.

MORSE 2, LEAVITT 1: Ann Tolan scored in the sixth minute of overtime to lift the Shipbuilders (2-0) over the Hornets (0-1-1) at Turner.

With Morse trailing 1-0, Sophie Sreden scored the equalizer on a direct kick from 30 yards out in the 28th minute of the second half.

MT. ARARAT 4, LEWISTON 0: Libby Ouellette scored twice and Erin Tome and Torri Pelletier added one goal each as the Eagles (2-0) downed the Blue Devils (0-1-1) at Lewiston.

Lauren Williams and Kate Guerin combined for five saves for the shutout.
