TEMPE, Ariz. - Carson Palmer has landed with the third team of his NFL career.
First Cincinnati, then Oakland and now Arizona, it's not exactly a 'Who's Who' of NFL powerhouses.
But Palmer and his new coach, Bruce Arians, insist he's coming to a team built to win now, despite the fact it lost 11 of its last 12 a season ago.
The Arizona Cardinals acquired Palmer from the Oakland Raiders on Tuesday, then agreed to a two-year contract that could pay him up to $20 million with $10 million guaranteed.
"I've got a lot of tread left on my tires," the 33-year-old quarterback promised.
The Cardinals gave up a conditional seventh-round 2014 draft pick and swapped the second of their two sixth-round picks this year for Oakland's seventh-round selection.
49ERS: Free-agent cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha reached agreement on a one-year contract with San Francisco that could pay him as much as $3 million this year.
The former All-Pro was released by the Philadelphia Eagles on March 12 after two disappointing seasons.
BEARS: Chicago terminated veteran defensive tackle Matt Toeaina's contract.
BILLS: Buffalo signed free- agent defensive lineman Alan Branch to a one-year contract.
Branch enters his seventh NFL season after spending the past two as a starter with the Seattle Seahawks.
The Bills also re-signed backup running back Tashard Choice, and tight end Dorin Dickerson accepted the team's tendered contract offer.
BROWNS: Cleveland released linebacker Chris Gocong and safety Usama Young, and also signed place-kicker Brandon Bogotay.
BUCCANEERS: Tampa Bay signed kicker Nate Kaeding, defensive linemen George Selvie and Derek Landri, running back Brian Leonard and wide receiver Steve Smith.
Smith has been plagued by injuries in recent years with St. Louis and Philadelphia after making the Pro Bowl with the Giants in 2009.
JAGUARS: Jacksonville signed free-agent defensive tackle Sen'Derrick Marks to a one-year contract.
Marks spent the past four seasons with the Tennessee Titans.
PACKERS: Green Bay signed cornerback Loyce Means.
Means signed as a nondrafted free agent with the Buffalo Bills in July 2011. The Bills released him during the preseason and he went on to play for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the Canadian Football League in 2011. He was out of football last year.
