TORONTO - Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Jose Bautista was held out of the lineup for a third straight game Wednesday with a sore back and hasn't been able to swing a bat since the weekend, Manager John Gibbons said.
Bautista felt sore after starting two games at third base in Kansas City last weekend, moving to the infield after shortstop Jose Reyes sprained his left ankle.
Bautista, who is batting .200 with three homers and six RBI, missed three games earlier this month with a sore right ankle.
BREWERS: Milwaukee brought back reliever Francisco Rodriguez, signing him to a minor league deal.
Rodriguez set the single-season saves record with 62 in 2008 with the Angels.
WHITE SOX: Chicago recalled outfielder Jordan Danks from Triple-A Charlotte and placed left-hander Charlie Leesman on waivers for the purpose of granting his unconditional release.
Danks takes the place of right-hander Duente Heath, who was optioned to Charlotte following Tuesday night's victory against the Blue Jays.
YANKEES: First baseman Mark Teixeira has taken his first swings -- in a pool -- as he ramps up his rehabilitation from a wrist injury.
Teixeira said the progression to playing in rehab games will be a slow one but he still hopes to be ready within the initial prognosis of eight to 10 weeks for recovery from a partially torn sheath in his right wrist.
ASTROS: Bullpen coach Jeff Murphy injured his left leg and knee when a protective screen fell on him.
Murphy was throwing batting practice when a heavy wind blew the screen over, pinning Murphy's leg. He pulled himself out and tried to walk, but fell and had to be helped off the field.
GIANTS: San Francisco placed left-hander Jeremy Affeldt on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain.
