Fish ladder paddle

9 a.m. in Damariscotta

This week's outing for the Pemaquid Paddlers is on Damariscotta Lake to the fish ladder in Damariscotta Mills. Put-in is at the public boat launch off Route 213, two miles from the intersection of routes 213 and 215. Participants must provide their own canoe or kayak and wear a life jacket. Call 677-6380.

FRIDAY

Naturalist guided hike

9 to 11 a.m. in Jefferson

Three recent graduates of the Maine Master Naturalist program will lead a hike on the trails at Hidden Valley Nature Center. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars and field guides. Suggested donation is $5. For more information, go to www.hvnc.org, call 586-6752 or email gary@hvnc.org.

SATURDAY

Crafts and music

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Wells

The Laudholm Nature Crafts Festival brings nearly 100 artisans, selected by jury, to exhibit their wares for thousands of browsers. Music, food, and environmental education round out the two-day festival on the Laudholm campus of the Wells National Estuarine Research Reserve. Admission is $7 each day or $10 for both days. On Sunday, jazz guitarist Gary Wittner will perform a concert at 11 a.m. No smoking or pets are allowed at the farm. For more information, go to www.wellsreserve.org.

Honey bee talk

1 p.m. in Hinckley

The L.C. Bates Museum will explore the world of the honey bee with activities for the whole family. Samantha Burns, president of the Somerset Beekeepers and a certified master gardener with the Somerset County Cooperative Extension, will be at the museum at 1 p.m. with honey, some beekeeping equipment, and lots of great pollination knowledge. Museum admission is $3 for adults and $1 for youths under 18. For more information, call 238-4250.
