Bog and Boardwalks / 10 a.m. in Jefferson

Hidden Valley Nature Center will host a tour of its kettle hole bog ecosystem guided by Robert Zottoli, professor emeritus at Fitchburg University. The ecosystem is an iconic piece of Maine’s natural landscape and is home to many beautiful flowering plants, including several varieties of orchids. Suggested donation is $5. Lobster Boat Races / 11 a.m., June 30 off Long Island

Lobster Boat races return to Long Island in celebration of the town’s 20th anniversary. As part of the Maine Lobster Boat Racing Association’s circuit, races will feature many classes of boats. The finish line at Mariner’s Wharf will also be the location of the island’s other celebration activities, including live music, a barbecue and children’s activities. Races start at 11 a.m. and all are welcome. For transportation to Long Island, visit the Casco Bay Lines website at cascobaylines.com.

Garden Tour  / 10 a.m. in Montville, July 14

The Georges River Land Trust is offering a garden tour full of sculptures, structures and perennials. The self-guided tour is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, featuring gardens in Hope, Montville and Union, and also highlights how to live sustainably off the land.
