The “Maine-ly Outdoors” Ministry of Daystar Chapel on Route 201 in Madison is hosting a hand-gun safety course. Food and beverages will be available at the class as a fundraiser toward a community pavilion project. Cost for the class is $50. To register, call 399-9717.

The Eastern Trail Alliance is hosting another moonlight walk. Come hike along the section of the Eastern Trail in Biddeford. Meet at the rear of the Southern Maine Medical Center parking lot. This walk will be lit exclusively by natural light. No pets allowed. For more information, call 283-4487.

Wilderness Documentary

5 p.m. Oct. 24, Portland

The University of New England is holding a screening of the 2002 film “Wilderness and Spirit, A Mountain Called Katahdin,” directed by Huey, a Portland filmmaker. The screening is free and open to the public. It will be followed by a question-and-answer session with the director. The screening is being held in conjunction with the art exhibit on Katahdin in the UNE Art Gallery.

Halloween Fun

all day Oct. 26, Hinckley

Several Halloween events are taking place at the L.C. Bates Museum on Route 201, including a nocturnal animals tour with a museum guide at 10 a.m. and a creepy crawly art program at 1 p.m. All events will be family friendly. From Oct. 20 to Nov. 1, families are invited for a self-guided scavenger hunt. During this time the special collections of nocturnal animals will be featured. Contact the museum at 238-4250.
