ORONO – Terrance Mitchell scored 22 points off the bench to lead Maine past Norfolk State 74-54 on Sunday.
Maine (4-5) scored the first seven points of the game and led 38-24 at halftime after a 3 from Mitchell for the final points of the half.

Mitchell was 5 of 7 from behind the arc and scored all of his points in only 14 minutes on the court. Gerald McLemore added 12 points on four 3s.
The Black Bears were 27 of 50 from the field (54 percent), including 10 for 22 from 3-point range (45.5 percent).
Kyle O’Quinn and Pendarvis Williams scored 11 points each for the Spartans (1-7).
(2) OHIO STATE 85, WESTERN CAROLINA 60: Jared Sullinger scored 17 points and the Buckeyes (8-0) came out of the blocks fast to beat the turnover-prone Catamounts (4-8) in Columbus, Ohio.
Dallas Lauderdale, William Buford and Deshaun Thomas all added 13 points and Jon Diebler 10 for the Buckeyes.
(12) VILLANOVA 84, LA SALLE 81: Maalik Wayns scored 19 points, including the go-ahead layup with 1:09 left as the Wildcats (8-1) edged the Explorers (6-4) in Philadelphia.
Jerrell Williams scored 20 points to lead four La Salle players in double figures. Sam Mills had 14 points, Tyreek Duren 13 and Ruben Guillandeaux 10.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
PENN ST. 95, MAINE 41: Maggie Lucas scored 22 points and Nikki Greene had 12 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Lions (9-2) past the Black Bears (1-8) at University Park, Pa.
Amber Smith had 14 points for Maine.
(3) STANFORD 77, FRESNO STATE 40: Freshman Chiney Ogwumike had season-highs of 18 points and 13 rebounds, Nnemaki Ogwumike added 17 points and the Cardinal (6-0) beat the Bulldogs (7-3) at Stanford, Calif.
Jeanette Pohlen added 15 points for the Cardinal, who won their 50th consecutive home game.
McAuley graduate Ashley Cimino played five minutes for Stanford and scored one point and had two rebounds.
(5) DUKE 73, OKLAHOMA ST. 45: Karima Christmas scored 16 points and Allison Vernerey added a season-high 12 for the Blue Devils (11-0), who deployed a ravenous pressure defense to rout the Cowgirls (8-1) at Stillwater, Okla.
Duke, coached by former UMaine coach Joanne P. McCallie, forced 17 first-half turnovers and took a 29-point halftime lead on their way to a sixth road win this season.
(8) TENNESSEE 92, (21) TEXAS 77: Angie Bjorklund scored 20 points in the first half and Meighan Simmons added 18 to lead the Volunteers (9-1) past the Longhorns (5-3) at Austin, Texas.
Kathleen Nash led Texas with 21 points.
MEN’S SOCCER
NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP: Scott Caldwell scored in the 78th minute to help Akron beat top-ranked Louisville 1-0 in the Division I championship game in Santa Barbara, Calif.
Akron (22-1-2) won the title — its first in NCAA competition in any sport — a year after losing the College Cup final to Virginia in a shootout after a scoreless draw.
Caldwell scored on a 15-yard shot after Louisville defense blocked his attempt from the top of the penalty box.
The midfielder has scored all five of his career goals in the last seven postseason games.
Louisville (20-1-3) was attempting to become the first undefeated team since Santa Clara in 1989.
