ORONO – The University of Maine faded in the second half and lost 67-47 to New Hampshire in an America East Conference women’s basketball game Wednesday night.

The Black Bears (3-17, 1-7 America East) trailed 26-24 after a first half that featured seven lead changes and four ties. The Wildcats (6-14, 3-5) never trailed in the second half and led by as many as 23 points.

Cari Reed scored 27 points and Denise Beliveau added 13 rebounds and six assists for New Hampshire.

Tanna Ross was the only Maine player to reach double figures, scoring 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting from behind the 3-point line.

(2) UCONN 63, RUTGERS 44: Tiffany Hayes scored 18 points, Maya Moore added 17 points and 16 rebounds and Connecticut (19-1, 8-0 Big East) scored the first 13 points of the second half to pull away from Rutgers (12-7, 5-1) at Piscataway, N.J.

(3) DUKE 92, CLEMSON 37: Jasmine Thomas scored 14 points to help Duke (20-0, 6-0 ACC) beat Clemson (9-13, 2-5) at Durham, N.C.

(6) TEXAS A&M 80, (13) OKLAHOMA 78: Danielle Adams scored 31 points, including the decisive free throws with 7.6 seconds left, and visiting Texas A&M (18-1, 6-0 Big 12) beat Oklahoma (15-4, 5-1).

SOUTHERN MAINE CC 112, LAKES REGION CC 82: Coleman Findlay had 28 points and Josh Mackie scored 23 as SMCC won at South Portland.

(7) TEXAS 61, OKLAHOMA STATE 46: Tristan Thompson scored all of his 14 points in the second half, Jordan Hamilton had 12 points and 11 rebounds and visiting Texas (17-3, 5-0 Big 12) beat Oklahoma State (14-6, 2-4).

PROVIDENCE 83, (8) VILLANOVA 68: Marshon Brooks scored 20 points and Providence (13-8, 2-6 Big East) upset a ranked team for the second time in five days, beating Villanova (17-3, 5-2) at Providence, R.I.

(16) MINNESOTA 81, NORTHWESTERN 70: Blake Hoffarber scored 20 points, Trevor Mbakwe had 18 points and 14 rebounds, and Minnesota (16-4, 5-3 Big Ten) beat Northwestern (13-6, 3-6) at Minneapolis.

(21) GEORGETOWN 77, ST. JOHN’S 52: Jason Clark had 16 points, Hollis Thompson scored 15 and Georgetown (15-5, 4-4 Big East) beat visiting St. John’s (11-8, 4-5).

(23) LOUISVILLE 55, WEST VIRGINIA 54: Peyton Siva’s layup with 4.5 seconds left lifted Louisville (16-4, 5-2 Big East) over visiting West Virginia (13-6, 4-3).
