GORHAM - Jamie Hofstetter, Kiersten Turner, Amanda Kinneson and Casey Blossom all scored as Bowdoin used a second-half surge to record a 4-0 win over the University of Southern Maine in women's soccer
Bowdoin's Molly Popolizio chipped in a pair of assists.
The Polar Bears (1-0) held a 20-1 advantage in shots and a 5-3 edge in penalty corners over USM (1-2).
ST. JOSEPH'S 6, THOMAS 0: Katie Chambers scored three goals and Kim Jordan collected three assists as the Monks (1-0) scored three times in the first 19 minutes in crusing to a nonconference win over the Terriers (0-3) at Standish.
Danielle Daigle, Catherine Murch and Sam Peters added goals for the Monks.
MEN'S SOCCER
ST. JOSEPH'S 2, THOMAS 2: Jack LaFreniere and Alex Day each scored in the first 17 minutes for the Monks (1-1-1) before the Terriers (1-0-1) rallied for a draw in a nonconference game at Waterville.
Michael Hand scored both goals for Thomas.
FIELD HOCKEY
GORDON 4, USM 3: Karli Balmer scored her third goal of the game on a penalty corner three minutes into overtime to lift the Fighting Scots (1-2) to a nonconference win over the Huskies (2-1) at Wenham, Mass.
The Huskies led 2-0 at halftime behind goals from Ariel Kaplan and Rachel Trafton.
