MEDFORD, Mass. – Sara Binkhorst sank four foul shots as eighth-seeded Bowdoin scored the final eight points from the free-throw line to upset top-seeded Tufts 60-54 in the NESCAC quarterfinals.

Bowdoin (14-10) moves on to the NESCAC semifinals Saturday at Amherst.

Siena Mitman’s free throw pulled the Polar Bears to within one after Hannah Haley Kanner’s jumper gave Tufts a 54-52 lead with 2:12 left. Binkhorst was fouled after grabbing a rebound, and sank the tying and go-ahead free throws with 1:27 left. Mitman added another free throw to up the lead to 56-54 before Binkhorst was again fouled and sank both shots for a 58-54 lead with 25 seconds left. Kirsten Prue added two free throws 12 seconds later.

UNE 60, WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 49: Beth Suggs’ 27 points powered the Nor’easters (21-4, 18-0 CCC) past the Golden Bears (15-10, 12-6). UNE is unbeaten in conference play.

ST. JOSEPH’S 80, EMERSON 45: Lindsay Moore had 14 points as the Monks (15-10, 9-3 GNAC) rolled past the Lions (13-12, 7-5) at Standish. The Monks will host No. 6 Johnson & Wales in a quarterfinal Tuesday.

USM 86, UMASS-DARTMOUTH 50: Nicole Garland set Southern Maine’s career record for 3-pointers as the Huskies (24-1, 13-1 Little East) cruised past the Corsairs (18-7, 8-6) at Gorham.

Garland had 12 points, going 4 of 8 from beyond the arc to reach 210 career 3-pointers, passing 2011 graduate Kaylie DeMillo’s mark of 207.

MIDDLEBURY 75, BATES 64: Allie Beaulieu scored a game-high 24 points for the fifth-seeded Bobcats (12-12), who rallied from a 13-point second-half deficit, only to see the fourth-seeded Panthers (14-11) go on a late 12-0 run to win a NESCAC quarterfinal at Middlebury, Vt.

MAINE 74, BINGHAMTON 68: Liz Wood tied her career high with 22 points and had a career-high 13 rebounds as Maine (3-22, 2-10) defeated Binghamton (4-22, 3-10) during America East play at Vestal, N.Y.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

WILLIAMS 88, BATES 79: Taylor Epley’s second-half 10 points lifted the host second-seeded Ephs (22-3) over the seventh-seeded Bobcats (10-15) in the NESCAC quarterfinals.

AMHERST 83, COLBY 52: Aaron Tommey had 28 points to lead the top-seeded Lord Jeffs (23-2) past the eighth-seeded Mules (7-17) in the NESCAC quarterfinals at Amherst, Mass.

TUFTS 81, BOWDOIN 71: Ben Ferris drained four 3-pointers en route to 24 points, leading the fourth-seeded Jumbos (17-8) past fifth-ranked Bowdoin (14-10) during NESCAC quarterfinal play in Medford, Mass.

WESTERN NEW ENGLAND 69, UNE 47: The Golden Bears (9-16, 7-11 CCC) scored the first 16 points in less than five minutes and coasted over the Nor’easters (5-20, 4-14) at Springfield, Mass.

ST. JOSEPH’S 77, EMERSON 44: Jerome Diggs scored all of his team-high 14 points in the first half, leading the Monks (16-9, 11-7 GNAC) past the Lions (15-10, 13-5) at Standish. St. Joseph’s faces Emerson again Tuesday in a quarterfinal.

SMCC 61, ST. JOSEPH (VT.) 53: Emmanuel Donalson scored 20 points and the Seawolves (21-10) rallied from an 11-point second-half deficit to beat the Saints (11-17) in a Yankee Small College Conference quarterfinal at Auburn.

UMASS-DARTMOUTH 82, USM 74: A 12-3 run gave the Corsairs (5-20, 2-12 Little East) a 79-70 lead with 1:11 to play at Gorham.

Conor Sullivan scored 19 points for Southern Maine (14-11, 8-6).

WOMEN’S HOCKEY

NORTHEASTERN 5, MAINE 2: Brittany Esposito and Kendall Coyne scored two goals apiece, and the Huskies (17-10-2, 9-7-1 Hockey East) rallied from a 2-1 first-period deficit against the host Black Bears (5-21-3, 2-14-2).

Kayla Kaluzny and Brittany Dougherty scored for Maine.

ST. ANSELM 7, USM 0: Kathryn Picarello scored a hat trick to lead the Hawks (17-4-4, 12-2-4 ECAC East) past the Huskies (7-12-6, 6-8-4) at Manchester, N.H.

BOWDOIN 4, AMHERST 0: Kenzie Novak had a goal and an assist as Bowdoin (17-4-2, 11-3-1) downed the Lord Jeffs (12-9-1, 10-4-1) in Amherst, Mass. Kayla Lessard had to stop just 17 shots in recording the shutout.

HAMILTON 3, COLBY 1: Nikki Haskins’ goal broke a 1-1 tie late in the first period, and Megan Fitzgerald added an insurance goal as the Continenals (12-10-1, 6-8-1) beat Colby (10-13, 4-11) in Hamilton, N.Y.

MEN’S HOCKEY

BOWDOIN 2, CONN. COLLEGE 1: Kyle Lockwood scored his second goal of the game in overtime, lifting the Polar Bears (19-2-2, 13-2-2 NESCAC) over the Camels (7-14-3, 3-12-3) at Brunswick. Bowdoin clinched the top postseason seed.

COLBY 6, TUFTS 2: Scott Harff, Brendan Cosgrove and Cory McGrath each had a goal and an assist for the Mules (7-14-3, 5-11-2 NESCAC), who clinched the seventh seed in the conference tournament.

ST. ANSELM 6, UNE 3: Tyler Savage had a goal and two assists for the Hawks (13-8-3, 9-7-2 ECAC East), who took a 4-1 lead and held off the Nor’easters (6-16-2, 4-13-1) at Manchester, N.H.

NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 4, USM 1: Alex Pompeo opened the scoring for the Huskies (7-18, 4-14 ECAC East), but the Pilgrims (9-12-4, 7-8-3) got goals from four players to win at Henniker, N.H.

BASEBALL

AUBURN 4, MAINE 3: Ryan Tella hit a go-ahead two-run triple in the third and the Tigers (3-0) held on for a victory over the Black Bears in Game 2 of a doubleheader sweep at Auburn, Ala.

Tella helped Auburn to a 12-3 win in the early game, going 2 for 4 with three RBI. Michael Fransoso homered for Maine.
