Southern Maine Community College has an immediate opening for an assistant baseball coach. The duties of this position include assisting the head coach with practice preparation, game-day coaching, and overall administration of the program. The Maine Red Claws and the Maine McDonald's Owner/Operator Association are seeking nominations for their Maine high school basketball team of the year awards. The awards will honor one boys' team and one girls' team, which will each receive $1,000 for their program. The awards will presented March 10 as part of the Maine McDonald's All-Star Game in Bangor. The winners are selected based on community contributions, sportsmanship, team competitiveness and spirit, and commitment to academic excellence. Maine Elite Lacrosse will hold new sessions of its Skills & Drills and GameTime programs for boys starting in March at the Riverside Athletic Center in Portland. The schedule is as follows: Skills & Drills, kindergarten through sixth grade, 3 p.m. Sundays, March 4 to April 1; GameTime, kindergarten through sixth grade, 4 p.m. Sundays, March 4 to April 1, or 5 p.m. Wednesdays March 7 to April 4; GameTime, grades seven and eight, 6 p.m. Tuesdays, March 6 to April 3.
