USCC East cross country snowmobile racing will be hosting three events in Maine, at Parlin Pond, Madawaska and Greenville. The Parlin Pond event will be held Jan. 26, followed by the Madawaska event Feb. 16 and the Greenville event March 2. The USCC race circuit invites all levels of racers from beginners to true pros, and all age groups are included in six clases of races starting with a “kiddie Cat” up to a 100-mile long pro race. Portland Recreation will be hosting a local competition of the MRPA/Red Claws Hot Shot Competition on Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Reiche School & Community Center on Brackett Street in Portland. Hot Shot is a basketball skills competition for boys and girls who are ages 9-15. South Portland National Little League will hold its 2013 registration on Saturday, Feb. 2, from 12:30 to 3 p.m. at the Community Center on Nelson Road. Online registration is also available for returning players at www.spnll.com. There are leagues for baseball, softball and T-ball for boys ages 4-14 and for girls ages 4-12. First-time participants must have a birth certificate and proof of residency when signing up. Scholarships will be available based on need. Nominations for induction in 2013 into the Maine Baseball Hall of Fame are now being accepted.
