Portland Babe Ruth baseball, ages 13-15, will have registrations for new and returning players on March 26 and April 2 in the lobby of the Portland Expo from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. New players need a copy of their birth certificate. The New England Regional Hoop Shoot, a free-throw shooting contest sponsored by the Elks, will be held on Saturday at Gorham Middle School beginning at 9:30 a.m. The girls’ and boys’ state champions will compete in three age groups. Maine’s representatives with sponsoring lodges are: Jaycie Christopher, girls’ ages 8-9, Skowhegan-Madison; Isabel Dawson, girls’ 10-11, Portland; Sydney LeBlanc, girls’ 12-13, Skowhegan-Madison; Connor Marquis, boys’ 8-9, Sebasticook Valley; Henry Westphal, boys’ 10-11, Portland and Colby Esty, boys’ 12-13, Skowhegan-Madison. The national championships will be held at the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass., from April 18–21.

 

Select Physical Therapy and Central Maine Sports Medicine will host a free seminar featuring world champion cyclist Rebecca Rusch at 6 p.m. April 3 at Green Ladle, 156 East Ave., Lewiston. Doors will be open at 5 p.m. Rusch set a course record at the Leadville Trail 100 Mountain Bike race, a 100-mile high altitude race in the Colorado Rockies, with a time of 7 hours, 28 minutes and 6 seconds. Rusch will also take part in a bike ride earlier in the day beginning at 11 a.m. at 690 Minot Ave. in Auburn.
