Basketball Hall of Famer Meadowlark Lemon will be appearing at Messiah Christian Church in Wells at 7 p.m. Friday.

The Maine Historical Society, in partnership with the Cape Elizabeth Historical Preservation Society and the South Portland Historical Society, will host a 19th-century style baseball game Saturday at Southern Maine Community College. The Essex Base Ball Organization will play two nine-inning games versus the Dirigo Base Ball Club of Augusta, using the rules and customs of the 1860s. The event is free and will run from noon to 4 p.m.

The Maine Association of USA Track and Field will hold its championship and Region 1 qualifying meet for ages 7-18 on Saturday at Scarborough High School. The triathlon, pentathlon, heptathlon, decathlon and field events begin at 9 a.m., and running events begin at noon. The heptathlon and decathlon will conclude Sunday, starting at 8 a.m. Athletes age 18 or younger as of July 28 are eligible to compete. Participants must be Maine USATF members. Membership can be obtained at the meet for $15. The entry fee is $6 for each event. The top six individuals and relay clubs will qualify for the Region 1 meet in July.
