CAPE ELIZABETH — Derek Roberts rushed for 167 yards and a touchdown Friday night as Cape Elizabeth rallied to a 28-13 victory against Lake Region in a Western Class B football game at Hannaford Field.
Lake Region (2-6) scored on a 35-yard fumble recovery to build a 13-0 lead in the second quarter. Cape Elizabeth (6-2) cut the deficit to 13-7 on a 1-yard run by Andrew Lavallee.
The Capers took the lead for good early in the third quarter on a 21-yard run by Roberts, who finished with 13 carries, and Patrick Tyler's extra-point kick.
Cape Elizabeth extended the lead on a 2-yard touchdown run by Jack McDonald before Roberts put the game out of reach with his punt return touchdown.
Connor McAleney led the Capers with eight tackles and a forced fumble.
WELLS 50, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 0: Paul McDonough threw a 36-yard touchdown pass, returned an interception 40 yards for a score, blocked a punt out of the end zone for a safety and ran a botched snap in for a 2-point conversion as the Warriors (7-1) opened a 43-0 halftime lead against Gray-New Gloucester (0-8) at Wells.
J.T. Sherburne and Chad Whitten each scored two touchdowns in the first half.
FALMOUTH 25, POLAND 22: Jack Cooleen caught four touchdown passes from Zach Alexander as the Yachtsmen (5-3) edged Poland (2-6) at Falmouth.
BONNY EAGLE 56, GORHAM 8: Ethan Thorne rushed for 176 yards and scored four touchdowns to lead the Scots (7-1) over the Rams (0-8) at Standish.
Thorne opened the scoring on a 75-yard run, then added a 4-yard touchdown pass from Matt Rollins in the first quarter. Thorne later added a 13-yard touchdown run and a 92-yard punt return for a touchdown.
Nick Kilborn scored for Gorham on a 5-yard run and Darrick Peters rushed for the 2-point conversion to cut the deficit to 28-8 in the third quarter.
NOBLE 25, MARSHWOOD 20: Jake Bagley scored on a 1-yard run with 2:21 remaining to lead the Knights (2-6) over the Mustangs (2-6) at North Berwick.
Noble held a 12-6 lead through the first quarter, then 19-12 at halftime.
Marshwood took a 20-19 lead early in the fourth quarter after David Mick scored his second touchdown, this one on an 8-yard run.
Ethan Beaulieu finished 3 of 9 with 71 passing yards for Noble, throwing a 16-yard touchdown pass to Joe Thyng.
SCARBOROUGH 41, KENNEBUNK 35: Jack Adams had seven completions for 127 yards and two touchdowns as the Red Storm (7-1) edged the Rams (6-2) at Kennebunk.
Scarborough took a 13-7 lead on Mike Cyr's first-quarter TD runs of 41 and 20 yards.
Scott Thibeault of the Red Storm made it 28-28 through three with a 38-yard TD run.
Mark Pearson had 16 carries for 172 yards and two touchdowns for Scarborough.
Matt Dube led Kennebunk with 332 passing yards and four touchdowns, including a 60-yard pass to Vann Brazz and a 44-yarder to Ethan Drigotas.
