The Colby College baseball team earned a split with Hamilton College Monday in Auburndale, Fla.
The Mules (3-1) scored nine runs in the first three innings on the way to a 13-0 victory over the Continentals (6-6) in the first game before falling 9-6 in the second contest.
Brady Hesslein tossed a complete game in the opener, striking out six and allowing just one walk. Tim Corey drove in three runs and Luke Duncklee finished with three hits, two runs and an RBI.
In the second game, Hamilton scored five times in the fourth inning, but only one run was earned. Tyler Starks had a two-run double for Colby, which has scored at least six runs in its first four games.
SOUTHERN MAINE 13, SCRANTON 3: Freshman southpaw Tyler Leavitt pitched five innings of no-hit baseball to lead the Huskies (7-3) past the Royals (6-7) at Winter Haven, Fla.
John Carey was 3-for-5 with a double, triple and two RBI to pace the Huskies 14-hit attack. Carey is batting .591 through six games of USM's Florida trip. Tucker White added a triple and two singles with three RBI.
UNE 21, HUSSON 10: Twelve players scored as the Huskies (2-4) bested the Eagles (2-2) at Biddeford.
Hannah Tavella tallied four goals and four assists for the University of New England while Gina Newsome added a pair of scores and six assists.
With the eight points, Tavella moved into second place on UNE's all-time scoring lists by increasing her career total to 159 points.
COLBY 9, KALAMAZOO 8: Meaghan Lewia had a triple, and RBI, and two runs as the Mules edged the Hornets at Clermont, Fla.
Brianne Wheeler added a pair of hits and drove in a run for Colby, which began the day losing 7-2 to University of Chicago in a game that was started on Sunday but postponed in the third inning because of inclement weather.
COLBY 12, HOUGHTON 7: Meaghan Lewia had a home run with three runs batted-in to lift the Mules (2-2) over the Highlanders at Clermont, Fla.
Lindsay Peterson knocked in a pair of runs and scored twice for Colby while Carylanne Wolfington had two hits and two runs.
