ORONO – Gerald McLemore scored 19 points, and Justin Edwards had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the University of Maine men’s basketball team to a 77-60 win over Utah Valley State on Monday night.

Alasdair Fraser added 12 points, and Mike Allison had 11 points and seven rebounds for the Black Bears (4-4), who jumped to a 29-14 lead in the first 10 minutes. They led 45-28 at the half.

Ben Aird had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Wolverines (6-7).

(5) NORTH CAROLINA 99, NICHOLLS STATE 49: Dexter Strickland scored 14 points as the host Tar Heels (10-2) beat the Colonels (4-8) for their fourth straight win.

(6) BAYLOR 95, PAUL QUINN 54: Quincy Acy had 24 points and seven of Baylor’s 17 dunks as the Bears (10-0) won at home.

Baylor has won its first 10 games for only the second time, their best start since being 12-0 in 2000-01. The Bears have won 50 of their last 53 nonconference home games.

 (7) DUKE 90, UNC GREENSBORO 63: Freshman Quinn Cook scored all of his season-high 14 points in the second half as the Blue Devils (10-1) routed the visiting Spartans (2-10).

LSU 67, (10) MARQUETTE 59: Ralston Turner scored 22 points and the Tigers (8-3) extended their winning streak to five games while handing the visiting Golden Eagles (10-1) their first loss.

Turner hit two clutch 3-pointers in the final four minutes to give the Tigers the lead and added two free throws to make it 60-54 with 1:19 to go. Justin Hamilton then closed out a 13-point performance by making seven free throws in the last 53 seconds.

(11) FLORIDA 82, MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE 54: Erving Walker scored 19 points, one of five starters in double figures, as the Gators (9-2) beat the Delta Devils (1-9) to extend their home winning streak to 11.

DAVIDSON 80, (12) KANSAS 74: Nik Cochran scored 21 points, including a clutch 3-pointer in the closing minutes, as the visiting Wildcats (7-3) stunned the Jayhawks (7-3).

JP Kuhlman added 15 points and De’Mon Brooks had 13 for the Wildcats, who led the final 23-plus minutes.

It was the first meeting between the schools since the NCAA regional final in 2008, when Stephen Curry led the Wildcats on an inspired postseason run. Kansas managed a 59-57 victory when a last-second shot by Davidson’s Jason Richards clanked off the rim.

(18) INDIANA 107, HOWARD 50: Jordan Hulls scored 16 points and five of his teammates also reached double figures as the Hoosiers (11-0) beat the visiting Bison (3-9).

(19) MICHIGAN STATE 89, UMKC 54: Branden Dawson got off to a great start in the first few minutes and scored a career-high 16 points to lead the Spartans (10-2) to a win at home over the Kangaroos (7-6).

(23) CREIGHTON 83, TULSA 64: Doug McDermott scored a career-high 35 points to help the Bluejays (9-1) beat host Tulsa (5-7), which lost for the seventh time in nine games.

(25) ILLINOIS 64, CORNELL 60: Meyers Leonard had 19 points and a career-high 16 rebounds as the Illini (11-1) beat the Big Red (4-4) at home.

MOUNT UNION 76, BATES 55: Kori Wiedt scored 19 points to lead the Raiders (9-1) past the Bobcats (5-3) at Daytona, Fla.

Mount Union also got 12 points from Aly Daniel and 10 from Rosa LaMattina.

Taryn O’Connell scored 12 points for Bates.

(11) OHIO STATE 88, CHARLOTTE 58: Tayler Hill scored 16 of her 25 points in the second half to give the Buckeyes (11-0) a win over the visiting 49ers (5-5).

Samantha Prahalis had 19 points and reserve forward Darryce Moore finished with 10 for the Buckeyes.

GONZAGA 71, (13) GEORGIA 68: Haiden Palmer’s 3-pointer with two-tenths of a second left gave Gonzaga (9-2) a win over Georgia (8-2) in a Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic game.

(19) DELAWARE 68, PROVIDENCE 47: Elena Delle Donne scored 29 points for the visiting Blue Hens (9-0), who are off to the best start in the 41-year history of the program.

Delle Donne, who leads the nation in scoring, made 9 of 13 shots and only missed one of her 10 free-throw attempts.

Rachel Barnes led the Friars (5-6) with 13 points.

(23) DEPAUL 73, ILLINOIS STATE 54: Sophomore Jasmine Penny scored a career-high 20 points as the Blue Devils (11-2) beat the host Redbirds (5-5).

DePaul led 36-22 at the half after a lackluster start that saw the Redbirds pull within two with 7:05 left. Two consecutive 3-pointers by Megan Rogowski sparked an 8-0 DePaul run.
