Matt Cote scored for Biddeford on a walk with the bases loaded in the fifth inning.

GREELY 12, LAKE REGION 0: Connor Russell struck out 10 and walked one, giving up two hits in his first varsity start as the Rangers (2-0) shut out the Lakers (0-2) in five innings at Cumberland.

Pat O'Shea and Jonah Normandeau each had two hits and scored twice for the Rangers. O'Shea added two RBI.

SOUTH PORTLAND 6, NOBLE 5: Dylan Burns hit a two-run single to spark a four-run fourth inning for the Red Riots (2-0), who rallied from a 5-2 deficit against the Knights (0-2) at South Portland.

Nick Whitten struck out three while closing the game with three scoreless innings to earn the save and also hit a two-run double.

Jacob Emard had an RBI triple for Noble.

MARSHWOOD 9, GORHAM 0: Kyle Markham tossed a one-hitter and Jake Lebel's three-run double keyed a five-run first inning for the Hawks (2-0) against the Rams (1-1) at South Berwick.

Max McCoomb added a two-run triple for Marshwood in the second and finished with three RBI.

DEERING 6, THORNTON ACADEMY 1: Michael Marzilli sparked a four-run second inning with a two-run double to lead the Rams (1-1) past the Trojans (0-2) at Saco.

Samuel Luebbert of Deering struck out four in a three-hitter.

SOFTBALL

FOREST HILLS 8, VALLEY 6: The Tigers scored four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Valley and win an opener at Bingham.
