Girls' Roundup: Freeport stops Gray-NG with overtime goal

FREEPORT - Jocelyn Davee scored late in the second overtime Thursday to give Freeport a 2-1 victory against Gray-New Gloucester in a Western Maine Conference schoolgirl soccer game.

Julia Smith opened the scoring for Freeport (3-1) eight minutes into the game. Taylor Darnell tied it for the Patriots (2-2) from Alex Moeller three minutes into the second half.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 2, LEAVITT 0: Lexi Genthner assisted on a goal by Jordan Moore and also scored from McKenzie Belcher to lift the Panthers (3-1) over the Hornets (2-3) at Waldoboro.

YARMOUTH 0, YORK 0: Maddie Patten made five saves for the Wildcats (2-1-1) against the Clippers (1-2-1) at York.

Shannon Fallon stopped six shots for the Clippers, including a breakaway with 20 seconds remaining.

MORSE 2, OCEANSIDE 0: Miracle Trimble scored with 12 minutes left in the first half and Ruth Nadeau made it 2-0 from Trimble in the final two minutes of the game as the Shipbuilders (2-1-1) edged the Mariners (4-1) at Bath.

SACOPEE VALLEY 1, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 0: Kayla Brown scored from Courtney Minuitti with nine minutes remaining as the Hawks (2-2-1) edged the Raiders (0-5) at Fryeburg.

Emily Colbert recorded 12 saves for the shutout. Elle Burbank made nine stops for Fryeburg.

OXFORD HILLS 2, SKOWHEGAN 0: Abbie Eastman and Mikayla Morin scored in the first 16 minutes of the second half as the Vikings (1-3-1) pulled away from the Indians (1-4) at Skowhegan.

WAYNFLETE 2, NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 0: Sofia Canning scored in the first half and Sadie Cole added a goal from Walker Foehl in the second to lead the Flyers (2-0-1) past the Panthers (1-4) at Portland.

Juliana Harwood made two saves to record the shutout. Scout Fischman finished with 15 saves for NYA.

CAPE ELIZABETH 6, WELLS 0: Kathryn Clark scored twice in the first half and the Capers (4-1) went on to beat the Warriors (0-3-1) at Cape Elizabeth.

Sydney Wight, Katherine Breed, Katherine Briggs and Natalie Vaughn also scored.

GREELY 2, POLAND 0: Izzy Hutnak scored twice and Caton Beaulieu finished with five saves as the Rangers (2-1) shut out the Knights (1-2-1) at Poland.

Haley Whitworth made seven saves for Poland.

SOUTH PORTLAND 2, WESTBROOK 1: Emma Dennison scored with 1:13 left in the first overtime to lift the Red Riots (1-3) over the Blue Blazes (1-3) at South Portland.

Ericka Lightner opened the scoring for South Portland in the 32nd minute from Lillian LaRochelle. Westbrook tied it when Emily Thornton scored off a deflection with 5:13 left in regulation.

WINSLOW 4, CAMDEN HILLS 0: Devin Fitzgivens scored twice as the Black Raiders (3-2) beat Camden Hills (4-1) at Winslow.

FIELD HOCKEY

BIDDEFORD 2, BONNY EAGLE 2: Abbie Paquette and Katie Letellier each scored in the second-half as the Tigers (2-3-1) came from behind to tie the Scots (1-3-1) at Standish.

Abby Ward opened the scoring for Bonny Eagle while Cassidy Merrill chipped in a shot from the top of the circle.

DEERING 7, MCAULEY 0: Amanda LeMoult and Kiana DiBiase collected two goals apiece as the Rams (3-2) handled the visiting Lions (0-5) at Portland.

Kylie Patchell had a goal and an assist.

MARSHWOOD 4, NOBLE 0: Janay Wright collected a goal and an assist to lead the Hawks (6-0) past the Knights (0-5) at North Berwick.

Sammy Crosman, Karissa Boesch and Ashley Hickey also scored, and Cassidy Smith made five saves for the shutout.
