GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Mike Gillislee ran for a career-high 146 yards and two touchdowns, bringing No. 10 Florida to life in the second half as the Gators beat fourth-ranked LSU 14-6 Saturday.
Led by Gillislee and a dominant defense, Florida’s grind-it-out victory provided a signature win for Coach Will Muschamp in his second season in Gainesville. It was the program’s first win against a ranked team since beating rival Georgia in 2010.

Linebacker Jon Bostic, safety Matt Elam and defensive end Lerentee McCray provided the big plays on defense. Gillislee again carried the load on offense.
Together they wore down the Tigers (5-1, 1-1 SEC) in the second half — no surprise since the Gators (5-0, 4-0) have been doing that all season. Florida, which trailed 6-0 at halftime, also came from behind to beat Texas A&M and Tennessee on the road last month.
N.C. STATE 17, (3) FLORIDA STATE 16: Mike Glennon found Bryan Underwood for a 2-yard touchdown pass on fourth down with 16 seconds left as the Wolfpark (4-2, 1-1) beat the Seminoles (5-1, 2-1).
(6) SOUTH CAROLINA 35, (5) GEORGIA 7: Connor Shaw threw two touchdown passes and ran for another, Ace Sanders had a dazzling 70-yard punt return and the Gamecocks (6-0, 4-0) won a school-record 10th straight.
The Bulldogs are 5-1 overall and 3-1 in conference play.
(7) KANSAS STATE 56, KANSAS 16: John Hubert ran for 101 yards and four touchdowns on just 10 carries, Collin Klein had two touchdowns running and throwing, and the Wildcats (5-0, 2-0) coasted in Manhatten, Kan.
(8) WEST VIRGINIA 48, (11) TEXAS 45: Geno Smith passed for four touchdowns, leading the Mountaineers (5-0, 2-0) to another wild shootout win in the Big 12.
Smith now has 24 touchdown passes this season without an interception. But West Virginia didn’t seal the win until recovering an onside kick with 14 seconds left.
(9) NOTRE DAME 41, MIAMI 3: In what was a very tame sequel to the famed “Catholics vs. Convicts” rivalry, Cierre Wood and George Atkinson III gave the Irish their first 100-yard rushing duo in a decade, and Notre Dame improved to 5-0 for the first time since 2002.
The loss snapped a three-game win streak for Miami (4-2).
(12) OHIO STATE 63, (20) NEBRASKA 38: Braxton Miller rushed for 186 yards, zig-zagging 72 yards for one score and passing for another, to lead the Buckeyes (6-0, 2-0) before the largest crowd ever at Ohio Stadium. Nebraska fell to 4-2 and 1-1.
(14) OREGON STATE 19, WASHINGTON STATE 6: Sean Mannion passed for 270 yards and the Beavers survived a shaky start to go 4-0 for the first time since 2002. The Cougars fell to 2-4 and 0-3 in conference play.
(15) CLEMSON 47, GEORGIA TECH 31: Tajh Boyd threw for a career-high 397 yards and two touchdowns, and DeAndre Hopkins had 173 yards to lead the host Tigers (5-1, 2-1).
IOWA STATE 37, (15) TCU 23: Jared Barnett threw three touchdowns to Josh Lenz, who later had a scoring toss of his own, as the Cyclones (4-1, 1-1) ended the Horned Frogs’ major college best 12-game winning streak in Fort Worth, Texas.
TCU (4-1, 1-1) played without suspended quarterback Casey Pachall.
(17) OKLAHOMA 41, TEXAS TECH 20: Landry Jones passed for two touchdowns and Blake Bell ran for two more in Lubbock, Texas, as the Sooners (3-1, 1-1) avenged their home loss to the Red Raiders (4-1, 1-1) last season.
The victory was crucial for Oklahoma to remain in contention for the Big 12 championship.
(18) STANFORD 54, ARIZONA 48: Chase Thomas intercepted a tipped pass by Matt Scott in overtime, Stepfan Taylor ran for a 21-yard score two plays later and host Stanford (4-1, 2-1) rallied from a two-touchdown deficit to stun Arizona (3-3).
(20) MISSISSIPPI STATE 27, KENTUCKY 14: Tyler Russell passed for two touchdowns as the Bulldogs moved to 5-0 for the first time since 1999. The Bulldogs also are 2-0 in the Southeastern Conference.
Russell was 23 of 39 for 269 yards, hitting Adrian Marcus and Chad Bumphis for touchdowns.
(22) RUTGERS 19, CONNECTICUT 3: The Scarlet Knights (5-0, 2-0 Big East) are off to their best start since 2006, and they avenged a bitter loss to the Huskies that kept Rutgers from sharing the conference title last year.The visiting Huskies (3-3, 0-1) were held to their worst scoring output since 2010.
PENN STATE 39, (24) NORTHWESTERN 28: Quarterback Matt McGloin had the go-ahead score on a 5-yard run with 2:37 left, one of the three fourth-quarter scores for the Nittany Lions’ homecoming victory.
The Nittany Lions (4-2, 2-0 Big Ten) scored three times in the final 9:49, starting with McGloin’s 6-yard pass to Allen Robinson on fourth down.
