Kyle Bailey, Bonny Eagle, senior hurdler: One of the top hurdlers in the state, he placed third in the 55-meter hurdles at the Class A state meet last year.

Liam Campbell, Greely, junior middle distance: Runner-up in the mile at last year's Class B state meet. He took third in the event at the Bowdoin Relays on Dec. 17 in a time of 4:47.77.

Jeremy Collins, Bonny Eagle, senior sprinter: The top returning 400-meter runner from the Class A state meet, he is unbeaten in his first two meets this year.

Mitchell Finitz, York, senior distance: Finished fourth in the mile and second in the 2-mile at last year's Class A state meet. On Dec. 17, he placed fifth at the Bowdoin Relays in 4:52.49 behind a fast pack.

McKenzie Gary, Mt. Ararat, senior sprinter/jumper: Gary may be the athlete to watch after winning the 55, 200 and long jump at the Class A state meet last winter.

Tyson Goodale, Bonny Eagle, junior jumper/hurdler: The state triple jump champion outdoors in Class A, Goodale could sweep three events at the state meet if his form in the hurdles, long jump and triple jump holds up.

Tyler Martin, York, senior hurdler/jumper: Another multi-event athlete to watch. Martin is the top returning jumper from the Class B state meet, where he also took fifth in the 55-meter hurdles.

Nick Morris, Scarborough, senior middle distance: Won the 800 meters and led off the Red Storm's state championship 3,200 relay at the Class A state meet.

Jamie Ross, Brunswick, junior distance: Opened the season by winning the mile at the Bowdoin Relays in 4:36.61.

Bryan White, Deering, senior shot putter: The defending outdoor state champion in the shot put, White leads the SMAA as of Dec. 17 with a throw of 49-1.

GIRLS

Nicole Kirk, Scarborough, senior sprinter: Leads the Red Storm's speedy sprint corps as the returning 200-meter champion and runner-up at 55 meters from the Class A state meet.

Kathleen McMahon, Brunswick, senior distance: The reigning Class A 2-mile champion, she also finished fourth in the mile. And McMahon is off to a fast start with her third-place finish at the Bowdoin Relays.

Edie Palozzi, Deering, senior distance: The returning state champion in the mile and 800 meters.

Amanda Peterson, Gray-New Gloucester, senior sprinter: Won Class B titles in the 55 and 200 meters last year, and also won the 200 as a sophomore.

Sarah Perkins, Gorham, senior sprinter/jumper: Won the 55-meter hurdles and also captured the 100-meter hurdles outdoors last year. She already has tied the school record of 5-2 in the high jump this season.

Kirstin Sandreuter, Greely, sophomore distance: Placed third in the mile and second in the 2-mile at the Class B state meet last year.

Cassidy Storey, Greely, junior shot putter: Storey returns as the top shot putter in Class B.

Andrea Tolman, Scarborough, senior pole vaulter: Tolman is a one-event specialist, but her contribution increases the Red Storm's chance of repeating at the state meet. She finished second last year, clearing 9-6.

Emily Tolman, Scarborough, senior jumper/middle distance: The versatile Tolman placed second in the 800 meters at the Class A state meet, was third in the long jump and ran a leg on the winning 800 relay.

Emma Turton, Poland, junior sprinter: Placed second in the 400 and sixth in the 200 at the Class B state meet as a sophomore.
