Boys’ roundup: Gorham comes back to top Deering in basketball

GORHAM — Nick Thibeault scored 12 points in the fourth quarter Tuesday night to lead Gorham to a come-from-behind 59-52 victory over Deering in an SMAA boys’ basketball game.

Gorham (5-6) trailed 46-40 after three quarters, but closed the game with a 19-6 run in the fourth.

Thibeault led all scorers with 23 points, Sam Kilbourn added 21 for Gorham,

Ahmed Ali was the leading scorer for Deering (8-3) with 22 points.

MT. ARARAT 76, EDWARD LITTLE 65: Shyheim Ulrickson made a school-record 10 3-pointers while scoring a game-high 44 points to lead the Eagles (6-6) to a win over the Red Eddies (6-5) at Topsham.

Kevin Carter added 12 points for Mt. Ararat, which took control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Edward Little 21-10 to built a 12-point lead going into the fourth quarter.

Edward Little was led by Llewellyn Jensen with 22 points and Andrew Middleton, who scored 15.

SOUTH PORTLAND 57, BIDDEFORD 48: Jaren Mullen scored 23 points and Jack Fiorini added 10 points to pace the Red Riots (5-5) over the Tigers (0-11) at Biddeford.

Corey Creeger led Biddeford with a game-high 28 points, including five 3-pointers.

THORNTON ACADEMY 63, WINDHAM 55: Quinn Richardson-Newton scored 22 points and Kevin Barrett added 15 to lift the Trojans (5-5) over the Eagles (4-7) at Windham.

Markus D’Andrea scored 22 points, including three 3-pointers, to pace Windham.

Kevin Weisser added 11 points for the Eagles and Kyle Kilfoil scored 10.

NORTH YARMOUTH ACADEMY 73, A.R. GOULD 35: Chase Gendron had 13 points to lead five players in double-digits as the Panthers (7-3) beat the visiting Bears (0-9).

D.J. Nicholas and El Tayeb Dahia followed with 12 points, and Forrest Chicoine finished with 11 for NYA, which received points from all 11 of its players.

Adam Fakhareldin led A.R. Gould with 15 points.

FRYEBURG 45, GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 34: Ryan Gullickson scored 13 points for Fryeburg Academy (6-4) in a win over Gray-New Gloucester (2-8) at Fryeburg. Andreas Kariotis led G-NG with 22 points.

YORK 52, WELLS 46: Nicholas Darby scored 14 points and Adam Legg finished with 10 to lead the Wildcats (6-5) past the Warriors (3-8) at York.

Nate Booth and Jake Moody paced Wells with 15 points each.

LAKE REGION 67, WAYNFLETE 51: Sam Smith made five 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 17 points to lead the Lakers (7-4) over the Flyers (8-2) at Portland.

Jackson Lesure added 16 points for Lake Region and Mark Williams scored 15.

Waynflete was led by Serge Nyirikamba with 16 points.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 58, FREEPORT 38: Joey Gildard had 23 points with four steals and the Seagulls (8-2) steadily pulled way from the visiting Falcons (1-11) in the second half.

Tyler Scott finished with 10 for the Seagulls, who outscored Freeport 33-21 in the second half.

Brian Roberts had 12 rebounds and Zach Seamans also had four steals for OOB.

Jack Davenport had 15 points and Matt Nielsen followed with 10 for Freeport.

CAPE ELIZABETH 52, TRAIP ACADEMY 37: Jack O’Rourke made six 3-point baskets and led Cape Elizabeth (8-3) with 20 points in a victory over Traip Academy (2-8) at Kittery. Ethan Murphy added 11 points for the Capers.

Peter Roy paced Traip with 11 points.

MORSE 55, LEAVITT 53: Ethan Winglass finished with 18 points as the Shipbuilders (9-3) held on to defeat the Hornets (3-8) at Bath.

Keegan McDonough added 12 points for Morse and Jacob Freeman finished with 11.
