Emily Robida struck out 13 while pitching a complete game, and Jen Gray and Hailey Gagne scored in the 13th inning Thursday as Marshwood opened the SMAA softball season with a 7-5 victory at McAuley.

Kaylor Abdill had three hits for the Hawks.

McAuley pitchers Sam Libby and Taylor Whaley combined for 15 strikeouts. Maddie Beaulieu led the Lions with a triple and a home run.

CAPE ELIZABETH 6, YARMOUTH 3: Kate Rabasca struck out five while throwing a four-hitter, and also had a pair of singles and drove in two runs to lead the Capers past the Clippers at Cape Elizabeth.

Ashley Tinsman also had two hits for the Capers, who scored a pair of runs in the first, one in the third and three in the fourth.

Yarmouth’s Abby Nielsen hit a three-run homer in the seventh. Mel Levinson added a double and a single for the Clippers.

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 23, SACOPEE VALLEY 0: Zoe Adams belted a grand slam during an 11-run third inning and Stephanie Greaton pitched a one-hitter as the Patriots beat visiting Sacopee Valley in a game shortened to five innings by the mercy rule.

Adams finished with six RBI and two runs scored. Nicole Lowell added four hits, three runs scored and two RBI.

Greaton finished with 11 strikeouts.

BASEBALL

GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 5, WAYNFLETE 1: Tyler St. Pierre struck out 10 while pitching a one-hitter for the Patriots in a win over the Flyers at Gray.

Justin McKenna singled home a run during a three-run third inning and added another RBI single in a two-run sixth. He finished with three hits and scored once.

Thomas Wood contributed a double and a single.

Waynflete’s hit was a fourth-inning single by Nick Morrill.

OLD ORCHARD BEACH 10, BUCKFIELD 0: Kendall Tatsak struck out 10 and allowed just one hit for the Seagulls in a six-inning victory at Old Orchard Beach.

Tyler Scott had a pair of RBI, including a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the sixth to invoke the 10-run rule. Scott and Brendan Kaliher, who scored twice, each had two of Old Orchard’s eight hits.

GIRLS’ LACROSSE

CAPE ELIZABETH 21, FRYEBURG ACADEMY 2: Emma Landes and Abby McInerney scored four goals apiece as the Capers cruised to a win over the visiting Raiders.

Kirsten Rudberg chipped in with three goals.

Both Fryeburg goals were scored by McKenna Gerchman.

GARDINER 8, CAMDEN HILLS 6: Ally Day and Brooke Curtis each scored three goals for the Tigers in a win over the Windjammers at Rockport.

Claire Crocker and Bryce Smith also scored for Gardiner, and Maddy Cutler made 12 saves.

Addie Drinkwater paced Camden Hills with three goals. The Windjammers also got two goals from Kiera Haining and one from Adrianna Goodall. Brittany Winslow finished with 18 saves.

BOYS’ LACROSSE

SCARBOROUGH 12, MARSHWOOD 2: Cam Loiselle scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Red Storm pulled away from the Hawks in the second half at South Berwick.

Nate Howard added two goals and two assists for Scarborough, which outscored Marshwood 9-1 in the second half.

Both Marshwood goals were scored by Roy Stevens.
