Scarborough defenseman Nick Bagley and Cheverus forward Cam McLain are among four finalists for the 18th annual Travis Roy Award.

Grant Carrier, a goalie from St. Dom's in Auburn, and Parker Sanderson, a forward from Bangor, also are finalists for the award, presented annually to the top senior hockey player from a Class A school.

The award is named for Roy, a former Yarmouth High and North Yarmouth Academy player who suffered a spinal cord injury 11 seconds into his first shift for Boston University on Oct. 20, 1995.

Bagley led Class A defensemen in scoring during the regular season with 13 goals and 22 assists and added two goals and three assists in the Red Storm's three playoff games.

"He's a kid who had only two penalties called against him all year, and he played 40 minutes per game for us," Scarborough Coach Norm Gagne said.

In 18 regular-season games, McLain led the Stags in scoring with 21 goals and 19 assists. He compiled more than 100 points as a four-year varsity player .

"The kid has got character," Cheverus Coach Dan Lucas said. "He's one of those lead-by-example-type of guys. He plays hard and he plays clean."

A three-year varsity player, Carrier finished the season with a 2.08 goals-against average and a 93 percent save percentage.

One of the state's top scorers, Sanderson had 25 goals and had 26 assists despite missing four games during the regular season because of injury.

Earlier this week, forwards Spence Cowand of Gorham, Hugh Grygiel of Falmouth and Dallas Clark of Cony and goalie Evan Bourassa of Lewiston were included among the eight semifinalists for the award, which will be presented March 24 at the Class A awards banquet at the Ramada Inn in Lewiston.
