Girls' Roundup: Lake Region still unbeaten

NAPLES - Lucy Fowler scored off a scramble with 2:15 remaining to give Lake Region a 1-0 win over York in a Western Maine Conference field hockey game Friday.

Meghan VanLoan of Lake Region (13-0) and Amanda Kasbohm of York (8-3-1) finished with two saves apiece.

MARSHWOOD 2, MASSABESIC 1: Karissa Boesch scored with an assist from Emily Osborne 6:44 into overtime, giving the Hawks (12-2) a win over the Mustangs (8-3-1) at South Berwick.

Logan Provencher scored for Massabesic off a corner midway through the second half, but Sammy Crosman tied it with 6:44 left in regulation.

CHEVERUS 4, SANFORD 1: Staci Swallow scored two goals and Alex Logan had a goal and an assist to lead the Stags (13-1) over the Spartans (8-4-1) at Sanford.

NOBLE 3, SOUTH PORTLAND 1: Teague DeVoll scored a pair of second-half goals as the Knights (3-10-1) beat the Red Riots (3-9-1) at North Berwick.

Katie Taylor gave Noble a 1-0 halftime lead.

Kailey Hannigan scored for South Portland.

GORHAM 3, DEERING 0: Gabby Martell had a goal and an assist, and Charlotte Smith set up two goals for Gorham (7-6) against Deering (6-8) at Portland.

Evelyn Viernes and Jamie Hansen also scored.

SCARBOROUGH 5, KENNEBUNK 0: Katie Granzier's two goals paced Scarborough (13-0) in a victory over the Rams (4-9) at Kennebunk.

Maddy Dobecki, Ellen Walker and Rachael Wallace contributed a goal apiece.

THORNTON ACADEMY 2, BONNY EAGLE 0: Kaitlin Hilton had a goal and an assist to lead the Trojans (8-5) past the Scots (2-7-2) at Saco.

Morgan Dube also scored, and Karen Jacques had an assist.

WESTBROOK 9, MCAULEY 0: Danielle Richards finished with three goals, and Micaela LeBeau and Emily Blackmore added two each to lead the Blue Blazes (10-2-1) past the Lions (0-13) at Westbrook.

MT. ARARAT 3, BANGOR 0: Caitlin LaFountain scored two goals and assisted on another as the Eagles (9-4) downed the Rams (1-10-2) at Bangor.

Carly Raymond also scored, and Taylor Pare made three saves to record the shutout.

SOCCER

GORHAM 3, MARSHWOOD 0: Kali St. Germain, Jess Rexrode and Meghan Cushing scored for the Rams (8-3) against the visiting Hawks (4-6-1).

MASSABESIC 3, BONNY EAGLE 0: Alyssa Wardwell tallied a pair of goals to propel the Mustangs (6-4) past the Scots (1-10) at Standish.

Alyssa Gilman assisted Wardwell on both goals. Rochelle Morrison also scored.

KENNEBUNK 2, PORTLAND 1: Alyssa Weigle scored off a rebound with 15 minutes left to lift the Rams (1-9-1) over the Bulldogs (2-8-2) at Kennebunk.

Kennebunk led 1-0 at halftime on a goal by Kristen Metevier, assisted by Sam Bell. Rachel Glover got the equalizer in the second half.

THORNTON ACADEMY 8, WESTBROOK 0: Tori Daigle and Alyssa Gilbert each scored twice as the Trojans (11-0) beat the Blue Blazes (3-7) in Saco.

Katelyn Pierson and Amanda Arnold each had a goal and two assists. Courtney O'Brien and Allie Coburn also scored.

SCARBOROUGH 9, MCAU-LEY 0: Katherine Kirk scored three goals as the Red Storm (9-1-1) handled the Lions (2-9-1) at Scarborough.

CAPE ELIZABETH 4, FREEPORT 1: Kathryn Clark scored twice in the second half as the Capers (9-1-1) got four unanswered goals against the Falcons (5-6-1).

Montanna Braxton and Maddie Riker also scored for the Capers.

Freeport got a goal from Maddie Squibb.

LAKE REGION 3, WELLS 2: Sydney Hancock scored two goals in the second half, including the winner with 13 minutes left for the Lakers (4-5-1) against the Warriors (1-8-1) at Naples.
