Girls' Roundup: Lakers go on, beating Clippers

NAPLES - Lucy Fowler set up both goals Wednesday as top-ranked Lake Region advanced to the Western Class B field hockey semifinals with a 2-0 victory against ninth-seeded Yarmouth.

Fowler passed to Meghan Skarbinski, who scored with 57 seconds left in the first half for the Lakers (14-1).

Fowler assisted Elizabeth Schreiber to make it 2-0 early in the second half.

Midfielder Courtney Yates helped the Lakers by controlling play in the center of the field.

Maghan VanLoan made two saves for the shutout. Nicole Hickey stopped five shots for the Clippers (8-7-1).

YORK 1, SPRUCE MOUNTAIN 0: Allie Jones scored with 5:51 left in the second overtime to lift the fourth-ranked Wildcats (11-3-1) over fifth-seeded Spruce Mountain (11-3-1) in a Western Class B quarterfinal at York.

Left wing Madeline Leroux sent a diagonal pass into the circle and Jones was able to tip it past Spruce Mountain keeper Kasey Richards (5 saves). Amanda Kasbohm stopped seven shots for York.

TRAIP ACADEMY 1, FREEPORT 0: Kendra Kagiliery scored 4:47 into overtime as fourth-seeded Traip Academy (9-5-1) downed fifth-ranked Freeport (5-9-1) in a Western Class C quarterfinal at Kittery.

Caitlyn Vera assisted and Emily Bolton made three stops for the Rangers. Tallie Martin had 14 saves for Freeport.

LISBON 7, OLD ORCHARD BEACH 2: Olivia Harrington scored four goals to lead top-ranked Lisbon (14-0-1) over eighth-seeded Old Orchard Beach (3-12) in a Western Class C quarterfinal at Lisbon.

Lisbon led 4-0 at halftime on two goals by Harrington, and one each by Molly Nicholson and Ariana Kahler. Hanna Jordan and Harrington then scored in the first nine minutes of the second half.

Daphne Allen and Mackenzie Rague scored for Old Orchard.

BELFAST 3, GARDINER 2: Maddy Cummings had two goals and an assist as top-ranked Belfast (12-1-2) beat eighth-seeded Gardiner (10-5-1) in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at Belfast.

MEDOMAK VALLEY 3, GARDINER 2: Maria Ennamorti scored two goals as the Panthers (8-4-2) edged Gardiner (7-7) at Waldoboro.
