YORK - Tiana-Jo Carter and CeCe Hancock each scored 11 points as Lake Region handed York its first loss of the season, a 37-30 win in a Western Maine Conference girls' basketball game Tuesday night.
The Lakers (8-1) held a small lead through most of the second half in the defensive battle and pulled ahead from the free-throw line in the fourth.
Emily Campbell led York (8-1) with 12 points.
SOUTH PORTLAND 68, SANFORD 63: Brianne Maloney went 6 of 7 from the foul line while scoring 10 of her 21 points in overtime to lift the Red Riots (7-2) over the Spartans (5-3) at Sanford.
Danica Gleason led South Portland with 27 points. The Red Riots trailed by two before making a layup in the final seconds of regulation to force overtime.
Sanford was paced by Samantha Adams and Heather LeBlanc with 14 points apiece.
THORNTON ACADEMY 41, MARSHWOOD 30: Olivia Shaw scored 13 points and Abby Strickland was 7 of 9 from the line to help the Golden Trojans (6-3) beat the Hawks (3-6) at Saco.
Shaw also collected eight rebounds for the Trojans.
GORHAM 41, WINDHAM 23: Lexi Merrifield finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds to lift the Rams (5-4) over the Eagles (4-5) at Gorham.
Kristin Ross added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Gorham, which led 17-10 at halftime and extended the lead to 11 going into the fourth quarter.
Windham was led by Haley Batchelder with seven points.
MEDOMAK VALLEY 40, WINSLOW 30: Sammi Griffin scored 14 points to lead the Panthers (3-6) over the Black Raiders (3-6) at Waldoboro.
Medomak Valley was 10 of 13 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to pull away.
DEERING 47, BIDDEFORD 14: Marissa MacMillan scored 10 points to lead the Rams (9-1), who opened the game on a 12-1 run and cruised to a win over the Tigers (2-8) at Portland.
Sami Mack added nine points for Deering.
The Tigers were led by Laciann Gilblair's five points.
HYDE 40, HEBRON ACADEMY 24: Freshman Chloe Blaylock scored 12 points to help the Phoenix improve to 7-0 with a win over the host Lumberjacks (2-3).
MCAULEY 86, MASSABESIC 44: Sarah Clement scored 25 points and hauled in 10 rebounds as the Lions (9-0) defeated the Mustangs (1-8) at Waterboro.
Allie Clement scored a game-high 26 points for the Lions.
For the Mustangs, Erica Guimond scored 16.
GREELY 58, TRAIP ACADMY 41: Jaclyn Storey scored 26 points for Greely (8-1) as it beat Traip (3-6) at Kittery. Ashley Storey added 19 for Greely.
Traip got 14 points from Kendra Kagiliery.
GRAY-NEW GLOUCESTER 55, FALMOUTH 48: Haylee Cote scored a game-high 23 points, including four 3-pointers, to lift the Patriots (6-2) to a win at Falmouth.
Maria Valente added 13 points for Gray-NG, which built a 30-21 halftime lead and held on for the win.
The Yachtsmen (4-5) were paced by Anna Hickey, who made five 3-pointers and finished with 19 points.
RANGELEY 64, GREATER PORTLAND CHRISTIAN 18: Blayke Morin scored 14 points to help the Lakers (6-0) defeat the Lions (5-1) at South Portland.
Morin scored eight points in the second quarter as the Lakers took control with a 25-4 run.
Seve Deery-Deraps added 13 points for Rangeley.
MT. ARARAT 60, HAMPDEN ACADEMY 30: Mallory Nelson scored 26 points, including 14 from the line, to lead the Eagles (9-0) over the Broncos (0-9) at Hampden.
Mt. Ararat opened the game with a 22-3 run. Kristy Willey and Caitlin LaFountain added 15 points apiece for Mt. Ararat.
