It will be a busy weekend for veteran driver Dan McKeage of Gorham.

On Friday night McKeage will run in a 75-lap race for PASS Sportsmen at Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford.

On Saturday night he will switch cars to run in a 100-lap race in the Pro Series Division at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough.

“I like the longer races,” said McKeage, who won a PASS Sportsman 75-lapper at Beech Ridge in May. “It seems like you get a little bit more time to have a game plan than the Saturday night stuff, which is more driving by the seat of your pants. We usually set up for the longer races, and we always try to have a plan going into each race.”

After the first three races, McKeage is second behind Carey Martin of Denmark in the regional Sportsmen racing tour’s eight-race series.

There are no points to be gained in Saturday night’s Pro Series 100 at Beech Ridge because drivers each earn 50 points simply by starting the race, but McKeage, currently third in the racing division’s standings, wants to rebound from ninth- and 10th-place finishes after winning earlier this month in the second race of the season.

“Ninth and 10th are not where we wanted to be,” he said. “In the third race in, we got bounced around like a pinball and we bent some stuff on the car.

“We really didn’t find all the issues until this week.”

RAIN CONTINUES to play havoc with the PASS North and ACT racing schedules.

Lightning and hail in the area forced the postponement of the PASS North 150 for Super Late Models scheduled for last Sunday at Oxford Plains Speedway until July 12.

The event was added to the racing tour’s schedule after rain forced the cancellation of 150-lap races at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, N.H., and Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick, during the past month.

Rain forced the cancellation of ACT’s 150-lap race for Late Models last Saturday night at White Mountain Motorsports Park. It has been rescheduled for July 13.

THE TRACK was dry enough last Sunday afternoon at Riverside Speedway at Groveton, N.H., for Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, N.H., to roll to his second consecutive ACT win in eight days.

Polewarczyk, known as Joey Pole to racing fans, charged into the lead in the later stages of the 121-lap race, a resumption of a race halted by rain after 29 laps on June 2.

“This is a huge victory for us,” he said. “To win one race on the ACT Tour is tough, but to win back-to-back is just what we needed to chase down this championship.

“It’s good to be winning races again.”

Polewarczyk will have to wait until July 6, when the regional tour for Late Models resumes at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H., to try to make it three wins in a row.

AUSTIN THERIAULT, a young driver from Fort Kent, continues to look impressive while racing as a Brad Keselowski Racing development driver in the PASS South series.

Last Sunday he collected his second victory on the regional tour by winning the Rumble In The Pines 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, N.C.

Theriault won his first career pole and then dominated the second half of the race in his first visit to the .400-mile banked oval.

In four PASS South races this season, Theriault has two wins, three top-five finishes and four top-10 finishes.

Theriault will spend July 4 running in the World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Ga.
