TEE TO GREEN: John Downing of Purpoodock and Tom Bean of the Augusta Country Club teamed to win the state Senior Two-Man Championship last week at Poland Spring Resort with a best-ball score of 68. The teams of Tom Donovan and Tom Greene, and Dennis Crowe and Ed Schencks Jr. tied for low net with 59s. Three teams tied for second gross with a 69. A total of 76 teams competed.
The Woodlands Club in Falmouth is celebrating its 25th anniversary year this Friday with a slew of activities. Some of the events include a trick-shot demonstration, fireworks, music and a summer buffet.
Next year The Woodlands will host the Maine Amateur.
The Maine State chapter of the National Football Foundation will hold its 14th annual golf tournament at Belgrade Lakes Golf Club on July 8. The tournament serves as the Foundation's top fundraiser, and helps support the scholarship fund and membership drive. It's a scramble tournament with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Entry fee is $120 per golfer, which includes golf, cart, barbecue, prizes, refreshments and membership in the National Football Foundation.
