Bowdoin earned its first gold medal at the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston on Oct. 20, winning the women's collegiate four race. Bonnie Cao served as coxswain for stroke Katie Ross and crew members Cat Yochum, Mary Bryan Barksdale and Samantha Burns. Bowdoin finished with a time of 19 minutes, 14.11 seconds over the 3.2-mile course, beating a field of 38 boats.

The Maine Squeeze 13U baseball team recently won the New England AAU championship in Boston. Maine was 4-0 in the 16-team, single-elimination tournament, with two wins on Oct. 13 and two on Oct. 21, including a 7-4 victory over the Taunton (Mass.) Titans in the championship game.
