The Maine District 6 Senior Little League Softball All-Stars finished with a 2-2 record at the Eastern Regional in Worcester, Mass., held from July 27 to Aug. 1.

The southern Maine-based team opened the regional tournament with a 2-0 win over Peabody, Mass., then lost 6-3 to Waterford, Conn. After an 11-1 victory over Providence, R.I., Maine needed a win in its final pool-play game to advance to the four-team single-elimination round, but lost 4-0 to the host team.

 

Harry Sparks carded an ace on the 165-yard sixth hole at Salmon Falls Country Club on July 30. Sparks used a 6-iron for the shot, witnessed by Ernie Spulick.

 

• Dick LeBlond made a hole-in-one on the 155-yard fifth hole at the Abenakee Club on Aug. 2. LeBlond used a 7-iron for the shot, witnessed by Tom Clarkson.

• Randy Geaumont used a 6-iron to score a hole-in-one on the 176-yard 13th hole at the Dunegrass Golf Club on Aug. 4.

 

• A. Hal Barter of Richmond aced the second hole at Country Fareways in Bowdoin on July 28. Barter used a 5-iron for the 108-yard shot, witnessed by Tony Beaulieu of Bowdoin.
