BANGOR – Ben Walls made two free throws with 49.4 seconds left, and top-seeded Mt. Desert Island survived a big rally by Camden Hills to beat the defending state champion 59-58 in an Eastern Class B quarterfinal at the Bangor Auditorium.

Eighth-seeded Camden Hills (12-8) used a 24-4 run spanning the third and fourth quarters to turn a 14-point deficit into a 54-48 lead.

Two baskets by Jason Burke helped the Trojans (19-0) pull into a 56-56 tie. The teams exchanged free throws until Walls made both ends of a 1-and-1 to give MDI a 59-58 lead.

Walls and Burke each finished with 14 points. Taylor Hall paced Camden Hills with 19, and Adam Carlsen scored 13 before fouling out.

EDWARD LITTLE 60, LEWISTON 52: Sean Ford and Quin Leary scored eight points apiece in the fourth quarter as the seventh-seeded Red Eddies (12-7) rallied to upset the second-seeded Blue Devils (15-4) in an Eastern Class A quarterfinal at Augusta.

The Red Eddies trailed 30-19 at halftime. Ford led Edward Little with 18 points, while Leary finished with 16.

Luke Cote scored 13 points and Corbin Hyde had 11 for Lewiston.

BOYS’ HOCKEY

FRYEBURG/LAKE REGION 4, MT. ARARAT/LISBON 0: Pavle Stepanovic made 23 saves as the Ice Cats (7-10) shut out the Eagles (5-10) at Bridgton Academy.

Fryeburg/Lake Region took a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Ethan Green and Jeff Ast. Tyler Harnden and Tyler Hill added power-play goals in the second and third periods, respectively.

YORK 4, YARMOUTH 3: Craig DeCato scored 4:52 into overtime to give the Wildcats (10-5-2) a win over the Clippers (10-5-1) at Travis Roy Arena.

Shane Hughes had two goals and an assist, and Conor Tully also scored for York.

Yarmouth got short-handed goals from Bart Gallagher and Alex Kurtz, and a power-play goal from Marshall Brunelle.

FALMOUTH 3, ST. DOM’S 2: Ben Freeman scored with four minutes left to lift the Yachtsmen (13-4) over the Saints (11-7) in Lewiston.

Mitch Tapley and Kris Samaras each had a first-period goal to give Falmouth a 2-1 lead.

BONNY EAGLE 7, MASSA-BESIC/OOB 1: Jason Harmon and Shane Plummer each scored twice for the Scots (9-9) in a win over the Mustangs (5-12) at Biddeford Ice Arena.

GREELY 3, MESSALONSKEE 1: Pete Stauber had a goal and an assist to help the Rangers (11-3-2) down the Eagles (14-3) at Falmouth.

Stauber started the scoring in the first period. Kenny Richards added a goal in the second and Ted Hart scored 35 seconds into the third to make it 3-0.

GARDINER 1, CAPE ELIZABETH 1: Seth Wing scored for Gardiner (6-10-1) and Nick Breed answered for the Capers (9-5-3) in the second period at Portland Ice Arena.

BIDDEFORD 2, KENNEBUNK 1: Mario Lemieux scored an unassisted goal at 11:26 of the third period to give the Tigers (6-8-3) a win over the Rams (12-6) at Biddeford Ice Arena.

Kennebunk took the lead in the first period on a power-play goal by Bryce Fraser. Stephen Comar tied the game for the Tigers at 4:51 of the second.

GORHAM 7, PORTLAND 1: Spence Cowand scored a hat trick to lead the Rams (11-6) past the Bulldogs (1-15) at USM Arena.

MARSHWOOD/TRAIP 7, NOBLE/WELLS 1: Peter La-jeunesse and Drew Hale each had two goals and an assist to lead the Hawks (13-5) past the Knights (4-13) at Rochester, N.H.
